MOTION NO. 38
Moved by Johnson, seconded by Caldwell
It is recommended that the Reeve be authorized to issue the attache
Press Release concerning the recent O.P.P. Investigation, to the
area press:
TOWNSHIP OF ORO
MARCH 25, 1991
Re:
O.P.P. Investigation
Oro Township Council welcomed the news that the O.P.P. investigatio
into its affairs has concluded and that the police have determined
that there was no basis to pursue any further action in connection
with the allegations made by a Township resident.
Reeve Bob Drury said Council had been confident that its procedures
and dealings respecting land development and sales were proper,
lawful and in the best interests of the community.
"It's gratifying to have publicly confirmed, after such a lengthy
and detailed investigation, that the allegations were unfounded".
"It is unfortunate, however, that so much time, effort, attention
and expense was necessary to respond to such a complaint", said
Drury. Councillors expressed their hope that this investigation ha
"cleared the air" and will curtail any other vexatious allegations
in the future.
Mr. Drury said that municipal councillors and staff fully cooperate
with the police. Township Administrator/Clerk Bob Small said that
upon learning of the investigation, the municipality made available
to the investigating officers any documents in its possession which
would be of assistance. "We opened all of our books and assisted i
providing any information required from us" said Small. Mr. Small
added "we have a wonderful complement of professional staff serving
this municipality and it is our intention to continue the high leve
of dedicated service provided by these people to our Township".
