DISCLOSURE AND DECLARATION OF CONFLICT OF INTEREST:
None Declared.
Note:
The purpose of this meeting was to review the proposed
questionnaire for restructuring and to discuss a
resolution to be sent to the County with regards to the
1991 Municipal Election.
MOTION NO.1
Moved by Caldwell, seconded by Johnson
It is recommended that Section 21 (d) of By-Law No. 89-36, the
Township's Procedural By-Law, be waived for this Special Committee
of the Whole Meeting of Council.
Carried.
MOTION NO.2
Moved by Crawford, seconded by Caldwell
It is recommended that WHEREAS duly elected representatives of loca
governments forming the municipal government of the County of
Simcoe, in an attempt to improve the quality of County government
and political representation at the municipal level, initiated a
County study approximately 1 1/2 years ago;
AND WHEREAS the Province restructured South Simcoe by passing Bill
177 on June 28, 1990;
AND WHEREAS the Minister of the Ministry of Municipal Affairs has
indicated that the 1991 Municipal Elections in the County of Simcoe
will continue as planned for November, 1991 with the possibility of
another election within six months;
AND WHEREAS the elected representatives of the Township of Oro feel
that the requirement to hold two municipal elections at an
approximate cost of $20,000 each within a 6 - 12 month period is
financially and administratively irresponsible;
NOW THEREFORE the Corporation of the Township of Oro resolves that
the County of Simcoe be asked to petition the Minister of Municipal
Affairs on behalf of all municipalities it represents to request
that the 1991 Municipal Elections in the County of Simcoe be delaye
for a minimum of six months following a decision on restructuring.
