Reeve Robert E. Drury chaired the meeting.
Reeve Robert E. Drury opened the meeting by explaining to those
present that this Public Meeting was to receive public comments wit
respect to a proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment, pursuant to
provisions of the Planning Act, 1983, Section 34 (12). The
applicant has applied to rezone certain lands described as Lot 73,
Plan 967, Concession 7, (vicic).
To date, the Council of the corporation of the Township of Oro have
not made a decision on this application, other than proceeding to
this Public Meeting. Only after comments are received from the
Public, requested agencies and Township Staff, within the
appropriate time period, will Council make a decision on this
application.
Notice of the Public Meeting was mailed out on February 26, 1993, t
all property owners within 120 metres of the subject lands.
Reeve Robert E. Drury then asked the Deputy Clerk if there had been
any correspondence received on this matter. The Deputy Clerk
responded by indicating that correspondence had been received from
the Simcoe County District Health unit indicating there was no
objection to this conversion. Correspondence was also received fro
the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority indicating the subjec
lands were outside the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority's
area of jurisdiction.
The Reeve then stated that those persons present would be afforded
the opportunity of asking questions with respect to the proposed
Amendment. He then turned the meeting over to the Township Planner
Ms. Kris Menzies, to explain the purpose and effect of the proposed
Zoning By-Law Amendment.
Kris Menzies:
The purpose of tonights Public Meeting is
to afford council the opportunity to hear
comments from the Public, prior to making
decision on the rezoning. The rezoning
request is commonly referred to as a
conversion. It is a rezoning from a
Shoreline Residential Zone to a General

Kris Menzies:
Residential Zone in order to allow for
permanent year round occupancy of the
single family dwelling unit. The Official
Plan for the Township of Oro permits this
type of rezoning and outlines certain
policy requirements which Council should
consider prior to looking at the rezoning.
Essentially these policy requirements are
consent from the local Health unit or the
Ministry of the Environment; minimum lot
frontage must be adhered to and a minimum
lot area. The site does adhere to these
two policy requirements.
Josephine Martensson:
Where on the 7th is this property?
Reeve Drury:
Down by the Lake.
There being no further questions or comments, when being called for
the third time, the Reeve in closing the meeting, thanked those in
attendance for their participation and advised that Council would
consider all matters before reaching a decision. He then advised
those present that if they wished to be notified of the passing of
the proposed By-law, they should leave their name and address with
the Clerk.
