1989-009 Medonte By-law Providing for the Erection of Stop Signs at Intersections

BY-LAW NUMBER 89-09
BEING a By-Law providing for the erection of Stop Signs at intersection.

WHEREAS Section 117 of the Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1980,Chapter
198) provides that the Council of a Municipality may by By-Law provide
for the erection of Stop Signs at intersections on Highways under its jurisdiction
and that every sign so erected shall comply with the regulations of the
Ministry of Transportation.

AND WHEREAS Section 141 of the Highway Traffic Act (R.S.O. 1980,
Chapter 198~ provides that a driver of a vehicle approaching a railway
crossing at a time when a clearly visible mechanical signal device is giving
a warning of the approach of a railway crossing shall stop the vehicle not
less than 5 metres from the nearest rail of the railway and shall not proceed
until he can safely do so;
NOW THEREFORE, Council of the Township of Medonte enacts as follows:
1) That a Yield Right of Way sign shall be placed on the Eady Sideroad
both Eastbound and Westbound at its intersection with Canadian Pacific
Rail Line.

2) That the penalties provided in Section 188 of the Highway Traffic Act shall
apply to offences to the By-Law.

3) Section 1 of this By-Law shall not become effective until proper sIgns
have been erected in accordance with the regulations of the Highway
Traffic Act.
