A BY-LAW of the Corporation of the Township of Medonte to regulate the removal
of excrement left by a dog on public or private property.
WHEREAS Section 210 paragraph I, Subsection (6b) of the Municipal Act, R.S.O.
1980, c 302, provides that the Council of a Corporation may by By-Law require
any person who owns or harbours a dog to remove forthwith excrement left by the
dog anywhere in the municipality and for excluding from the operation of the By-
law such class or classes of physically handicapped persons as may be set out in
the By-law;

AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Medonte deems it
desirable to provide for the ,removal of dog excrement on public or private property
within certain areas of the. Township;

NOW THEREFORE the Councl)l of the Corporation of the TOwnship of Medc,nte enacts
as follows:

(1) For the purposes of this By-law the following meanings shall apply:
1) A blind person shall mean a blind person that possesses vision of
less than 6/60 on a Snellen Acuity in his or her better eye after
the best possible correction has a field vision 6f acuity of less
than 20 degrees;
2) A handicapped person shall mean a person who is permanently confined
to or restr'cted to the use of a mobility aid such as a wheelchair,
crutches or brace~
3) Private property shall mean property other than the property of the
owner or property of the person having care, custody or control of
the dog;
(2) Every person who owns, controls or harbours a dog shall remove for with
any excrement left by such dog on public (ir private bnds in the Town..
ship of Medonte in the areas outlined below:
1) Horseshoe Valley, being those lands known as Plan 1531, Plan M-IO,
Plan M-II, Plan M-.23;
2) Police Village of Hillsdale being those lands in Lot 5lf to Lot 58,
Concession 1;

3) Medonte Hills, being those land known as Plan M-17lf, Plan 1650
and Plan M-29;
If) W arminster, being those lands in Lc't 5 and 6, Concession llf and
Lots 5 & 6, Concession 13;
5) Moonstone, being those lands known as Plan M--I Oland Plan M-123;

6) Orr Lake, being lots 6lf,65,f,6, 67 and 68, Concession 1, West of
Highway 93;
7) Prices Corners, being those lands known as Plan 1626.
(3) In any prosecution pursuant to a violation of section (2) of this By~law,
proof t hat the defendant is either a blind person or a handicapped
person shall constitute a defence to such prosecution.
(If) Any person violating any provisions of this By-law shall be guilty of
an offence under the Provincial Offences Act, R.S.O. 1980, c. 400 and
shall be liable upon conviction therefore to a fine not to exceed $50.00
exclusive of costs, for each such offence, and every such penalty
shall be recoverable under the aforesaid Provincial Offences Act.

THIS BY-LAW shall come into force and have effect upon the final passing thereof.
