1992-017 Medonte THE CORPORATION OF THE 'IDWNSHIP OF MEOONTE BY-lAW NO. 1992-17 HEIR; A BY-lAW to amend By-law No. 1991-09 of the Corporation of the Township of Medonte ~ the Council of the T()';Vllship of Medonte passed By-law 1991-09 on the 8th Day of April, 1991, being a By-law to provide for the licensing of dogs and regulating their control in the Municipality; ~ AND WHEREAS the Council of the Township of Medonte deems it necessary to amend By-law 1991-09 in order to more effectively ensure the proper licensing of dogs and regulation of their control in the Municipality pursuant to the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.M.45, S. 210. HM THEREFORE the Municipal Council of the Corporation of the T()';Vllship of Medonte hereby enacts as follows: ~ 1. That Subsection 2. 2 of By-law 1991-09 is hereby deleted and replaced with the following: No person shall fail to have any dog owned by that person registered, numbered, described and licensed by the Clerk of the Municipality or other officer designated for that purpose, on or before the 1st day of March, in each year, or as soon thereafter as such dog attains the age of six (6) months. 2. That Subsection 4.1 of By-law 1991-09 is hereby deleted and replaced with the following: No person shall allow any dog owned by that person to run at large within the geographic limits of the Township of Medonte. 3. That Subsection 4.2 of By-law 1991-09 is hereby deleted and replaced with the following: No person who is the ()';Vller of a dog that has bitten a person or a domestic animal shall thereafter fail to keep the said dog muzzled or leashed at all times when not on the premises of the owner of that dog. 4. That Section 4 of By-law 1991-09 is hereby amended by adding thereto the following: ~ 4.3. Notwithstanding Subsection 4.2, the ()';Vller of a dog that has bitten a person or a domestic animal may apply to the Municipality for, and is entitled to, a hearing by Councilor a Cornnittee thereof, or the Animal Control Officer of the Municipality if so delegated by Council, which or who may exempt the ()';Vller from the muzzling or leashing requirement, or both. 5. This By-law shall come into force and effect on the date of its passage. t RFAD a first and second time, read a third time and passed this 23rd Day of March, 1992.
