THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ORO
BY-LAW NO. 90- 141
Being a By-Law to Appoint a Planner/zoning Administrator
WHEREAS the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1980, Chapter 302, as amended,
provides that the Council of a Municipality may by By-law,
appoint such officers as may be necessary for the purposes of
the corporation.
AND WHEREAS the Township of Oro deems it expedient to appoint a
Planner/Zoning Administrator for the Township of Oro.
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of
Oro hereby enacts as follows.
1. That Kristine Menzies is hereby appointed
Planner/Zoning Administrator for the Corporation of the
Township of Oro.
2. That in addition to the administration of the
Municipality's planning policies and regulations, the
Planner/Zoning Administrator shall, subject to procedural,
organizational and other requirements of Council perform
the duties as outlined on Schedule "A" attached hereto and
forming part of this By-law.
3. That Kristine Menzies shall be paid such salary or
other remuneration as Council shall from time to time
determine.
4. That this appointment shall be governed by the
provisions of By-law 86-11 and the Municipal Act.
5. That By-law No. 88-62 is hereby repealed.
6. That this By-law shall come into force and take effect
on passage of this by-law.
READ a first and second time this 17th day of December, 1990.
READ a third time and finally passed this 17th day of December,
1990.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION:
Provides advice to the general public, Council, Planning Advisory Committee and Committee of
Adjustment regarding the interpretation of by-laws, and the desirable and efficient use of land
within the Township.
TASKS

BAND/GRADE
1. Advises Council, Committees, the public and
staff on all land use related matters including
interpretation, review, evaluation, drafting
and presentation of policies, official plans,
zoning by-laws, site plan agreements and so on.
2 . Prepares reports, agendas and meeting
minutes, and proposal summaries for the
Planning Advisory Committee.
3 . Attends Committee and Council meetings as a
resource providing analysis, rationale,
implications regarding precedents,
recommendations, and so on.
4 . Schedules and co-ordinates public meetings
regarding re-zoning and official plan
amendments.
As Zoning Administrator:
5 . Provides zoning information to real estate
personnel, taxpayers, developers and the
general public.
6 . Reviews building permit applications and
development proposals for conformity.

As Secretary Treasurer to the Committee of Adjustment:
7. Reviews applications and prepares decisions
for the Committee of Adjustment.
8 . Acts as Secretary to the Committee of
Adjustment; assists the Committee to evaluate
proposals and weigh relevant criteria.

9 . Assists in the completion of re-zoning and
minor variance applications.
10. Prepares reports, agendas, and minutes for
meetings of the Committee of Adjustment.
Other Responsibilities:
11. Prepares and monitors departmental budget.
12. Develops and Administers departmental data
base, Ontario Home Rehabilitation Program,
and so on.
13. Directs the activities of the Chief Building ,
Inspector and Animal Control By-Law Enforcement
Officer on a daily basis.
14. Performs other related duties.
SKILL:
· Must hold a Community College diploma,
University degree or equivalent in planning.
EFFORT:
· Job involves attention to detail.
· Job involves moderate walking.
WORKING CONDffiONS:
· Working environment contains the usual risks or
discomforts, no special safety precautions are required.
