Chair: Ruth Fountain called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Present: Dave Knox, Ian Hunter, Catherine Riffer-Wessel, Brian Wiese,
Nadeen Morano, Councillor Ruth Fountain and Councillor Harry

Staff Present: Chris Carter (Recreation Co-ordinator)
1. Adoption of Thursday September 5, 2002 Agenda:

Moved by Mr. Hunter; seconded by Ms. Morano
That the Agenda for the September 5th, 2002 Recreation Advisory Committee be
adopted, with the addition of an update on “Ramey Park”.
Carried.
2. Adoption of June 6th, 2002 Minutes:
Moved by Mr. Wiese; seconded by Ms. Riffer-Wessel
That the Minutes of the June 62002 Recreation Advisory Committee Meeting be

3. Adoption of July 31, 2002 Special Recreation Advisory Committee Minutes:

That the Minutes of the July 31st, 2002 Special Recreation Advisory Committee
Meeting be adopted as printed and circulated.
Carried.
4. Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest and General Nature Thereof – In Accordance
with the Act:
Councillor Hughes declared a pecuniary interest with respect to Items 2, 3, & 6 (a) on
the agenda. Since his son lives in close proximity to the land being discussed (Pod’s
Lane). Councillor Hughes also refrained from any discussion or voting with regards to
Item 8 (a), because of his membership with Oro District Lions club.

7. Unfinished Business:
A) Moved by Mr. Wiese; seconded by Ms. Riffer-Wessel
That the discussion regarding the Neighbourhood Playground at Pod’s Lane and
Alpine Way be received.
Carried.
B) Moved by Mr. Knox; seconded by Mr. Hunter
That the discussion regarding Proposed Playground at Surgarbush (Site Visit) be
received.
Carried.

C) Moved by Ms. Morano; seconded by Mr. Hunter
That the discussion regarding the Township of Oro-Medonte Alcohol Risk
Management Policy be received.
Carried.
D) Moved by Mr. Knox; seconded by Ms. Morano
That the discussion with regards to the Distance Markers be received and
recommended that the distance markers begin at the border of Barrie.
Carried.
