BY-LAW NO. 93-43
A BY-LAW OF THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ORO TO ADOPT AND
APPROVE THE 1993 ESTIMATES OF ALL AMOUNTS REQUIRED FOR THE CURRENT
YEAR 1993 AND TO LEVY THE RATES OF TAXATION FOR THE CURRENT YEAR
1993
WHEREAS Section 162 of the Municipal Act, R.S.O. 1990, authorizes
Councils to pass by-laws to adopt current year estimates and to set
the rates of taxation;
AND WHEREAS the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Oro
wishes to adopt its 1993 estimates of all amounts required for the
current year 1993 and to levy the rates of taxation for the current
year 1993;
NOW THEREFORE the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Oro
enacts as follows:
1. That the following 1993 estimates of the various bodies are to
be raised by means of taxation for the current year 1993:

WHEREAS in accordance with the latest revised Assessment Roll
following is the amended total taxable assessment for each of
bodies for which it is necessary to levy rates of taxation for

3. That in addition to the foregoing the following Special
and Collectibles be levied and collected:
(a) A levy for the purposes of recovering amounts advanced
under the provisions of the Tile Drainaqe Act. 1971 from
the benefiting properties.
(b) A levy to collect for the annual estimates of hydro
charges for the Shanty Bay Street Lighting area be set at
the rates of Residential .311 mills and Commercial .366
mills for the 1993 estimate figures.
(c) A levy to collect for the annual estimates of hydro
charges for the Hawkestone street Lighting Area be set at
the rates of Residential .269 mills and Commercial .316
mills for the 1993 estimate figure.
(d) A levy to collect for the annual estimates of hydro
charges for the Audubon Subdivision Street Lighting area
be set at the rate of Residential .335 mills for the 1993
estimate figures.
(e) A levy to collect for the annual estimates of hydro
charges for the Scott Street Lighting area be set at the
rate of Residential .513 mills for the 1993 estimate
figures.
(f) The Street Lighting charges for Plans 1561, 1682, M-66,
M-71, Bass Lake Area (Concession 14), Plan 875, Black
Forest and Quadrant Subdivision shall be apportioned to
property owners within the affected area based on the' 199
estimates of costs.
(g) Water Rates for the Shanty Bay Subdivision, Harbourwood
Subdivision and the Hawkestone Subdivision, in the amount
of $250.00.
(h) Water Rates for the Canterbury Estate Subdivision in the
amount of $187.50.
(i) A levy for any or all other amounts collectable pursuant
to any statute or by-law and chargeable to any or all rea
property and business and/or person or persons to be
raised in the same manner and at the same time as all
other levies, rates, charges and/or collections.
4. That any surplus figure above $2,500.00 derived from the 1993
estimates for the general levy of the Municipality shall be
allocated to a reserve account for working Capital.

That the final tax bill less the interim tax bill be due and
payable in two equal instalments on or before July 15, 1993
September 16, 1993.
That the Treasurer mail or cause to be mailed the notice of
taxation due to the address of the residence or place of
business of the person or persons to whom such notice is
required to be given as shown on the latest revised Assessment
Roll.
That no person or persons be permitted to allow business taxes
to be in arrears.

That there be added an interest charge of 1.25 per cent on the~
first day of each calendar month to the amount of all taxes du
and unpaid for each month or fraction thereof from December \
31st in the current year until taxes are paid.
That there be imposed as a penalty for non-payment of taxes
any instalment thereof after any given due date a charge of
1.25 per cent on the first day of each calendar month
thereafter in which default continues but not after December
31st in the current year.
That taxes shall be paid either in full or by instalments for
remittance purposes to the credit of the Treasurer on or befor
the day on which such taxes fall due at the main branches of [
the Toronto Dominion Bank in orillia and Barrie which accept II
and processes payments on behalf of customers with the onus on
the financial institution to remit payments on time, but after I
the due date of any unpaid taxes, no payment of any taxes/or II
any arrears of taxes shall be paid at the Toronto Dominion Ban~1
in Barrie or Orillia. II

That all taxes be paid into the Office of the Treasurer.
That the Treasurer be authorized and directed to collect any
penalty or interest or any other levies, rates, charges or
collections in the same manner as empowered to collect taxes
levied by the Council.
That the Treasurer be authorized to accept part payment from
time to time on account of any taxes due and to give a receipt
for such part payment does not affect the collection of any I
penalty or interest or any other levies, rate, charges or
collections imposed, collectable and due in respect to any non~1
payment.
That this by-law come into force and take effect on and from I
the date of the final passing thereof for the current year i
