the Manager, Community Services.

1. That the request by the Moon Family Cemetery Committee to install a private Moon
Family Monument on Township property be received.
2. That it is recommended to Council that Staff be asked to canvas relevant Township
Departments to determine the feasibility and appropriateness of installing such a
monument on Township property.
3. That Staff return to the Committee with any recommended conditions or
requirements for the establishment of the monument.
4. That any costs associated with the Moon Family Monument be borne by the Moon
Family Cemetery Committee.

■ The property has historical value or associative value because it
has direct associations with a theme, event, belief, person, activity,
organization or institution that is significant to a community.

yields, or has the potential to yield, information that contributes to
an understanding of a community or culture.
■ The property has historical value or associative value because it
demonstrates or reflects the work or ideas of an architect, artist,
builder, designer or theorist who is significant to a community.

o Contextual value — Describe the contextual value, then assess it against
the following criteria for determining cultural heritage value or interest (O.
Reg 9/06):
■ The property has contextual value because it is important in
defining, maintaining or supporting the character of an area.
■ The property has contextual value because it is physically,
functionally, visually or historically linked to its surroundings.
■ The property has contextual value because it is a landmark. O.
Reg. 569/22, s. 1.
• Statement of cultural heritage value.
o A few paragraphs summarizing the evaluation under Ontario Regulation
9/06 and explaining how the property has design or physical value,
historical or associative value; and/or, contextual value.
• List of heritage attributes to be preserved.
o Provide a list of all the heritage attributes to be preserved.
o Consult with the property owners to ensure that they are ok with the list,
knowing that if they want to replace or make any alterations to the heritage
attributes that they will have to obtain approval from the Heritage
Committee and Council.
• Photos:
o Photos of all the sides of the building(s) and structure(s) on the property
(do not enter the property without the property owner's permission).
o Photos of each heritage attribute to be designated.
o Staff will coordinate a site visit with the property owners.*
• Sources: Include a list of all the sources of information that were referenced to
complete the research.

1) Heritage Designation Research
• The Heritage Committee is planning on designating 6 properties by the end of 2024.
• Are the new Committee Members interested in conducting research on the following
properties?
o Carley Hall (396 Warminster Sideroad)

2) Research on the Guthrie Arena for its 100th Anniversary
• The Operations and Community Services Department is seeking volunteers to assist
with the research on the Guthrie Arena for its 100th anniversary.
• The 100th anniversary celebration will be held at the Mayor & Council Skate in
December.
• They are looking for history boards similar to those that were displayed at the
Hawkestone Hall's 100th anniversary.
• Are the new Committee Members interested in volunteering?

Cemetery Signage:
• The cemetery signs do not fall within the parameters of the Township's current
wayfinding project.
• The Committee will have to apply for funding to cover the cost of the signs.
Updates to the Heritage Section of the Township's Website:
• We can incorporate the information that was gathered as part of the Ambassador
Program onto the heritage section of the Township's website. We can use this
opportunity to help promote the Township's Ambassador Program, which encourages
residents to learn about the history of the Township.
Book Sales:
• Update on book sales.
