03 08 1993 Correspondence - Amalgamation Township of Oro-MedonteTHE CORPORATION OF THE Office of the — TOWNSHIP OF Clerk March 8, 1993 Oro History Committee c/o Mr. Henry Neufeld Secretary R.R. #1 Hawkestone, Ontario LOL 1T0 Re: Amalgamation Township of Oro/Medonte Submissions for New Name Dear Mr. Neufeld: The Joint Councils of Oro and Medonte along with a representative from the Township of Orillia had a meeting on February 24, 1993, at which time discussion took place regarding the naming of the new municipality, subsequently the following resolution was adopted: Moved by Martin, seconded by Mortson Be it resolved that the Clerk's be directed to reconfirm with the local public schools for submissions of a name for the new municipality with a May 1st deadline, as well as corresponding with the Oro and Medonte History Committees requesting same, and further that these submissions be advertised in a Joint Oro- Medonte Newsletter asking for comments and/or further suggestions. Carried. Accordingly, the Oro History Committee is being asked to participate in this process and submitting suggestions for a new name or names, by May 1st, 1993. My colleague in Medonte will be communicating with the newly formed Medonte History Committee, requesting their participation as well. As you can see from the above resolution, it is the intention of the Councils to advertise all submissions received to date and asking for any comments or further suggestions from residents.
