ordinator, Huronia Tourist Association, which had been for-
warded to the Township Office and received to -day. The letter
makes reference to the African Episcopal Methodist Church
and possiblity of improving awareness thereof. Letter advises
that the HTA has been conducting research and evaluating
black heritage sites in Simcoe County =.nd it would appear
that it is the significant remaining site. The HTA would
like to schedule a meeting to discuss improving awareness
of the site by inviting representative from the Black
Community in Collingwood, representatives of the History
Committee, Simcoe County Historical Association, members
of Oro-Medonte Council and/or any other groups or individuals
that this Committee think should be invited. The ETA would
like to schedule a meeting as soon as possible.
After consideration the following action was taken:
" It was moved by Jadeen Henderson and seconded by Carl
Campetelli the the History Committee members or representatives
of the Committee would be pleased to attend a meeting and
and would recommend that members of the Oro-Medonte attend
such a meeting. :and further that Council advise in this
regard in order that the Huronia Tourist Association may be
notified so that they can set a date for a meeting."

Research - reference to software available. The content of the
letter was considered and it was left that the letter be filed
for reference.
(c) Loreen (Rice) Lucas advised that she had been given a letter
by Joanna 1cEwen with respect to McGilliavray family for some
response and after she had made contact with various people
and reviewed publications, she had forwarded a letter to Russel
i cGilliavary of her findings. None of this family members had
apparently settled in Oro. A copy of the letter is to be filed
in the Tewneihip History Committee file for reference should it
need further research.

Old snd Unfinished Business
(a) The Chairman advised that he had prepared a Memorandum to
Oro-Medonte Council, as had been requested by a member of
Council to relate and explain the activity of the Township
History Committee. A copy of the basic Memorandum was handed
to each member of the Committee for discussion. After a
review and discussion some changes are to be made before it
is presented to Council. Composition of this Committee was
discussed and it was the considered opinion of the members
present that two additionalmembers be added, who have a
good knowledge and historical interest of the former Medonte
Township. Thus making it a more balanced Committee for
continued work as a History Committee of the Township of
Oro-kedonte. Also that the £edonte Historical Society and
the Township appointed History Committee continue as must
be separate indities. However both should remain open to
assist one another with information when the occasion for
such should arise.
As result of the foregoing discussion it was -
"Moved by Mary Garbutt and seconded by Carl Camretelli that
the Oro-Iedonte Council be hereby requested tit appoint two
additional members to this committee who have a gpod know-
ledge and specific interest in history of Medonte as well
as having the interest to be a volunteer on the Township
of Oro-kedonte History Committee"
(b) The Chairman made reference to work carried out on Script
for Video as had been completed for the slides on hand and
also advised that some work still is needed to cor►plete
the project. A copy of script for Oro Video w a handed tc
each member of the Committee.
(c) The Secretary advised that he had made enquiries through the
Township administration staff with respect to 'Name Tags"
for Committee members to be used on certain projeets cr
specific occasions. The cost quotation being:- ' 1 "x" with
Tin - name and Oro- edonte History Committee at $4.50 per
badge. 1i"x24" - Name tag - first name only - $3.00 per

It was suggested that this be left until cfter the Township
Council appoint the Oro-edonte History Committee for 1995.
New Business
The matter of the 1995 Budget for the History Committee was
presented for consideration. A suggested amount had been put
forward by the Chairman in his prop.sed ,lemorandum to Council.
After somde discussion and consideration - it was moved by
Jadeen Henderson and seconded by Loreen (Rice) Lucas that a
Budget of $1500 be approved and that itArecommended to the
Oro-Medonte Council that a Budget of this amount be included
in the Township 1995 Budget.
It may be noted that should a specific project come to completeion
during 1995, the Committee may find it necessary to approach
Council for approval of additional funds, should the proposed
1995 Budget not be sufficient to cover such a project.
Several other matters were discussed with particular interest
as to compiling future projects and historical recordings of
earlier years, combining former Oro and former Medonte as a
recording for one Township - Oro-Iedonte.
There being no further immediate business at hand t was moved
by Walter Hutchinson that the meeting adjourn at 9:15 p.►., to
meet again on Tuesday, February 14, 1995, at 7:30 p.m.
