February 14, 1995
The Township of Oro-Iedonte History Committee met this evening
at the Township Administration Building in the Board Room.
The following members were rresent:

Opening: The meeting was opened by the Chairman at 7:35 p.m.
Lin_utes: The Minutes of the last regular meeting held on
January 19, 1995 were on motion of Walter Hutchinson
and Loreen (Rice) Lucas adopted as printed and received.
All members having received a copy of same. •
Business arising from the Minutes
The meeting was advised of the communications with Ken Sitter
Project Coordinator, Huronia Tourist Association (HTA) who
had indicated that he would advise as to when a meeting would
be called. Also Council have advised of a representative of
Council to attend such a meeting.
Correspondence, Communications
(a) Letter from Ontario Regional Coordinator, Heritage Canada
forwarding information on effective workshop developed to
bring a community together to discuss about its heritage.
Copy of workshop agenda and the surprising conclusions
reached by the participants,during the developing of a
Community's Strategy for Heritage Workshop to be conducted
in October.
(b) Agenda for Workshop regarding Researching Heritage Buildings
scheduled for Satutday, April 1, 1995 from 10:00 a.m. to
4.00 p.m. Presented by Su Murdock, Archival and Historical
Consulting at the H_eadquarter's Residence, 47 Rodney Street,
Barrie, Ontario. Fee for attendance $35.00.
It was moved by Beenice Hickling and seconded by Jadeen
Henderson that the Chairman review the correspondence and
report back to the Committee and that the correspondence
then be filed for reference, should no action be taken.
Old and Unfinished Business
(a) Presented letter from the Township Clerk in response to
requests of the Committee at the last regular meeting:
(i) Representative of Council to attend a melting with HTA:
'Council have appointed Councillor Neil Craig as their
representative to meet with the Hurcnia Tourist Association,
Simcoe County Historical Association, the Oro -Medonte
History Committee and the Black Community in Collingwood,
with respect to improve public awareness to the African
Episcopal Church located in Cro-Medonte.'

1995 Budget for History Committee;
Clerk's letter confirms that $15C0.00 has been set
aside within the 1995 Budget for the Oro-1edonte
History Committee,,
(iii) Appointrn nt of two additional members to the Committee
Council concur that two additional members be appointed
to the Oro-hedonte History Committee and respectfully
request the Committee to seek those individuals who
they feel have good knowledge and specific interest in
the history of the Township and are willing to volunteer
on your Committee and Council will take your recommendation
in this regard.
It was moved by Jadeen 1-Ienderscn and seconded by Loreen
(Rice) Lucas that the letter in response to the request
of the Committee be received and filed for reference.
New Business
(a) Workdshop meetings - suggested dates February 20th or 23rd.
It was agreed that a work meeting be scheduled for February 21,
to review Video tapes to identify specific items to be used
for the proposed publication of the early 19C0's.
The meeting is to be held at the home of the Chairman at
9:30 a.m. All members able to attend to do so.
(b) Dates for future meeting of this Committee were set for
the second Lionday of each month on a trial basis. Accordingly
the next meeting would be March 13, 1995.
(c) Fresented the new Logo for 0rc-i,sedcnte as approved by
Council
(d) The Chairman advised that it should be recorded that the
following Assessment and Collectort Rolls have been taken
from the Vault for historic purpose: (February 1':, 1995)

It was also resolved that Walter Hutchinson take the above
mentioned Rolls to review and compile any information of
the 1920's and earlier regarding owner and tenants on the
various properties or other data.
Other activities of Committee members:
Loreen(Rice; Lucas advised that she had not forwarded the
letter to Lir. Russell LoGilliavray mentioned at the last
meeting until she obtained further information. r copy
of this letter is cn file.

Loreen also mentioned that she had shown the Video as
produced by CBC to a number of Women's Institutes and
that she would be showing them again to several other
W.I.'s that have requested it.
Jadeen Henderson mentioned that she and the Chairman had
attended at several different Public Schools when requested
by teachers to show and eommentate household items and
tools used in the earlier years. Antique tools and items
seem to be of great interest to the uounger children atd
that they appear to sho a great interest. As well they
make reference to the activities of the History Committee
in the past as well as future endeavours.
It was mentioned as well that great interest has been
forthcoming to visit the antique, equipment and articles
as well as farm implements that Earl Robertson has on
display. (by the way Earl is recovering quite nicely
following his surgery)
There being no further business at hand it was moved
by Walter Hutchinson that the meeting adjourn at 8:30 p.m.
to meet again on Monday, March 13, 1995 at 7:30 p.m. and
again on April 10, 1995, should the second Monday of. the
month appear to be suitable to all concerned.
