The History Committee for the Township of Oro met this evening with
the following members present:
Howard Campbell
Ruth Fraser
Henry Neufeld
OPENING
Jean Cameron
Wallace Key
Walter Hutchinson
The meeting was opened by Howard Campbell, advising that the Chairperson,
Joanne McEwen, had asked him to take charge of the meeting since she would
not be able to attend.
On motion of Wallace Key and Walter Hutchinson that Howard Campbell be
the Chairman for the meeting.
Wallace Key and Walter Hutchinson were present as added member, according
to resolution passed at a meeting held June 18, 1986.
MINUTES
The minutes of the last regular meeting of the History Committee, held
on June 18, 1986, were adopted on motion of Jean Cameron and Ruth Fraser.
ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE—CHAIRMAN
The matter of Chairman and Vice —Chairman was left over to the next meeting
since all members were not present.

Acting Chairman Howard, advised the Committee that Joanna McEwen felt that
since she would be editing the update Story of Oro, it would be advisable
to appoint a Chairman and Vice —Chairman.
REPORT ON KNOX CHURCH HISTORY
No Special Report — the publication History of Knox Church sales have
been steady.
REPORT ON CANADA DAY EVENTS
Books were sold at the Canada Day. ,6oreen and Jack Lucas looking after
the History Committee Display.
CORRESPONDENCE, COMMUNICATIONS, ETC. AS RECEIVED
(a) Copy of Notice of Meeting and Minutes of June 18th meeting as
forwarded.
(b) Copy of letter forwarded to Secretary, Oro Agricultural Society,
confirming request for an area for the History Committee Information
Booth. Also, copy of Secretary's memo to Council, dated February 10,
1986, suggesting to Council that when considering the 1986 grant to
the Oro Agricultural Society, the Society be approached to reserve
space for the History Committee Information Booth.

(c) Letter from Rev. Andrew Turnbull, forwarding congratulations on
the completion of history of Knox Presbyterian Church and his
comments and explanation of same.
(d) Memo from Chairperson of the 1985 Canada Day Committee, expressing
thanks on behalf of the Canada Day Committee, to the Oro Township
History Committee for their display on Canada Day at Oro Memorial
Park.
(e) Letter from Deputy -Archivist, Presbyterian Church for Canada Archives,
expressing thanks for copyof completed History of Knox Church
(1845-1986). The copy as presented to the Archives will be a
wonderful addition to the other Congregational histories and will
be enjoyed by many visitors.

Letters from Administrator/Clerk, Township of 0ro, forwarding
resolutions of Council, authorizing an expenditure of $800.00
for printing of Knox History, (meeting of May 26, 1986) and
meeting of June 9, 1986, authorizing additional expenditure of
$267.00.
Photographs from Leslie Leigh - S. S. Geneva at Hawkestone Dock -
Hawkestone General Store and picture of Hawkestone Sunday School
prior to boarding the S.S. Geneva to Morton Park, 1909 for a Picnic.
Moved by Walter Hutchinson and seconded by Ruth Fraser that the corres-
pondence as presented, be received and filed.

Presented copy of letter to the Township of Oro from the Secretary,
0ro Agricultural Society, confirming space for the History Committee
at the 1986 Oro Fall Fair and advising that the fee would be $55.00.
Secretary advised that the Township had forwarded the fee which will be
charged to the History Committee Budget, 1986.
Moved by Wallace Key and Jean Cameron that the copy of the letter to
the Township, with respect to space reserved for the History Committee
at the Oro Fair, be received.
