TOWNSIP OF ORO HISTORY COMMITTEE
The Township of Oro History Committee met this evening at
the call of the Chairman, with all members present except
Jean Cameron, all members having been notified.
Present were:

Wallace Key
Walter Hutchinson
Opening
The meeting was opened by the Chairman, Howard Campbell
at 7:30 p.m. The Chairman advised of the matters to be
considered at this meeting.
Minutes
It was moved by Wallace Key and seconded by Loreen Lucas
that the minutes of the meeting held on June 9, 1987 be adopted
as printed and received.
Business arisine from the Minutes of the last regular meeting~
held on June 9. 1937.
The Chairman reported on his attendance at the Semiriat
held by the Ministry of Citizenship and Culture on the sub-
ject 'Preserving Ontario's Architecture' with the Clerk/
Administrator and the Chief Building Official on the 24th
of June, and advised that it would appear that the African
Church would not be applicable for a grant under this
programme. However it was indicated that application may
be given consideration.
Wallace Key reported that the floor of the African
Church has now been painted. A question still arose as to
what other staining or painting should be done.
It was moved by Marlene Mawdsley and seconded by Ruth
Fraser that the matter of any further staining or painting
be left to Commitee consisting of Wallace Key, Walter Hutchinson
and Joanna McEwen.
Joanna McEwn and Henry Neufeld reported on the progress
of the printing of the update of the Story of Oro and advised
that the book would not be completed until the end of October.
The completion of the printing of the book will be approximately
six weeks later than anticipated in the quotation.
After considerable discussion as to the retail cost of
the book the following motion was passed:
On motion of Loreen Lucas and Wallace Key that the
History Committee recommend to Oro Council that the price
of the 'Update of the Story of 0ro' be set at $10.00 per book
and a wholesale or quantity of 10 or more be set at $8.00
per book.
On motion of Joanna McEwen and Walter Hutchinson that
the History Committee recommend to Oro Council that the price
of 'Kith and Kin' be increased to $15.00 per book.
The matter of advertising of the Update of the Story of
0ro was discussed and the following suggestions were made:
(1) That the Local Community reporters be asked to mention
the Update of the Story of Oro in their news column
once the book is available for sale.
(2) that a Committe be set up to be responsible for the
methods of advertising once a definite date has
been confirmed by the printers.
The Chairman appointed Marlene Mawdsle.y, Henry Neufeld
and Loreen Lucas as the Committe responsible for the advertising.
The matter of the Booth at Oro Fair was discussed and
it was left that all members of the History Committee take
part in attending the booth.

0n motion of Walter Hutchinson and Joanna McEwen that
the account from Ilene Skinner be forwarded to Oro Council
for payment and 3 copies of the Story of Oro be forwarded to
her when the books are available at no charge since it is
part of her account.
On motion of Joanna McEwen and Walter Hutchinson that
the meeting adjourn at 8:30 p.m.
