Present were: Joanna McEwen, Howard Campbell, Marlene Mawdsley, Jack Muir,
Loreen Lucas, Ruth Fraser and Jean Cameron.

CQRRESPNDE cE
- a 'thankyou' letter from Bob IvicLarty who discovered a copy of
I{ith 'n Kin a few years ago and learned more about his family.
He has just returned from a trip to Islay where he learned more
about the McLarty and McArthur family ancestors.
-the Mormon Genealogy Society of Utah has requested a copy of Kith
'n Kin, Council approved sending them a copy free, sent on June 27'85,
a 'thank you' letter has been received.
-copy of letter sent to Mrs. Peter Scott, conveying sympathy on the
death of Mr. Scott, and appreciation for his contribution of pictures,
etc. of the history of Oro.
-letter. from Coulson W.I. - in favour of printing more copies of
Story of Oro, but do not wish responsibility of selling them.
OLD BUSINESS
- copy of page of writings of E.C. Drury, believing Wilberforce St.
to be other than where the Plaque is erected on Shanty Bay Rd. at
.Line 1. Site chosen was well searched and shown on an old map at
the Archives that designates the original settlement.
- a copy of West Oro Baptist history given to Ruth Fraser
-also on hand a copy of Knox Church history compiled by Walter and
Phyllis. Hutchinson, of 21 pages, letter of thanks to be sent them.
-Howard suggests the histories of the 3 oldest churches in the Twp.
Knox, St. Thomas' and the African Church be compiled into one booklet.
- Joanna has not had a reply to letter to the Warden re #93 Hwy,
- nothing done yet about sign at Cemetery at the WDS.
NEW BUSINESS
-plans were made for manning the History Committee booth at Oro Fair,
display Village History books, crests, pins, etc. and take a poll
of number of people who may be interested in a copy of Story of Oro.
- Howard had a letter from a Mrs. Campbell of Winnipeg, who had a
copy of Kith 'n Kin and was looking for information of her family
- Loreen also reported meeting a lady enquiring about her. relatives,
McLeod, Carmichael & IZcCuaigs, buried at Knox Cemetery,this
information obtained from Kith 'n Kin
-since Council is agreeable for Henry Neufeld to help the history
committee until his retirement April 1'86, and that there may be
changes to the Twp. offices, on Council, and even the History comm.
we felt it is urgent to finish up zeroxing projects and cataloging
material before that time.
-motion by Howard, seconded by Loreen Lucas, that Henry Neufeld be
a member of the History Committee, carried.
-work meetings were planned for. Sept. 25th, Oct. 16th & 28th, mornings.
No date was set for the next meeting.
