06 20 1990 Oro History Committee - MinutesTHE TOWNSHIP OF ORO YISTORY COLJ.ITTEr MEETING JUNE 20 t . 1990 The Township cf Oro history Committee met this evening at the Township of Oro Administration Building in the Committee Room, at the call cf the Chairperson. All members having been duly notified by telephone. All members of the Committee present. Opening - The meeting was opened by the Chairperson at 7:3C p.m.. n.inutes - The :::inutes cf the last reguler meeting held on April llth, 1990, which had been forwarded to all members were on motion of Howard Campbell and seconded by Earl Robertson adopted as printed and received. Business arising from the Linutes of April 11, 1990 (a) Secretary reported that to a follow up letter to u.atthew Canada Limited re: confirmation of cost of :1aque and name of Local Denier had been received to date. After discussion it was left that the Secretary to follow uF on the matter. (b) ether items under Business arising from the .,:inutes - - none brought forward. Correseondence and Communications (a) !resented copy of letter forwarded to the Deputy -Clerk re: i'istcry Books and reccn:rnendation of Committee to reduce the trice cf the Story of Oro to $10.00, as well as suggestionlrega.rding the z lacing of the Fublicetions in Retail Etrres for sale. and - (b) resented letter from the Administrator/Clerk advising that Oro Council are not in favour of reducing the price of "The Story of Oro" and that Council would request that a delegation from the History Committee arrange to meet with Council regarding the sale of History Books of th= Township of Oro. After consideration cf the t:is corresicndence and Communic- ation, the following action was taken: It we s moved by Earl Robertson _n{ seconded by Bernice Fickling that Lcreen Liccs, -:;elter Futchirscn rnd Henry Yeufeld be the delegation to meet with Oro Ccurcil and secretry to arrnnge for the meeting. Howard Campbell and ";;alter Futc`.inson tc take inventory of the iublications on hand prior tc the meeting. (c) :resented a letter from the Deputy -Clerk fcrw'.rding a letter from :,..s. Louise Brown - enquiry regarding Deoore- tion Day Service vt the Little Brice Church. Secretary advised that he replied verbally- to. the Der.uty- Clerk with reference of r_'.mes cf Cornmitte I,:err.bers for same. cont'd - 2 - Some of the Committee :embers being - Norman Ems, Alistair Crawford, Bruce Crawford and othe_.s. (c) Copy of letter to Joanna i.cEwen from ..iarilyn Tusher - enquiry regarding family history in 'Kith !,n' Kin. (Joanna i;:cEwen had replied to the letter) On motion of Neil i,.cNiven and Walter Hutchinson that the Corresiondence and Communication as presented be received and filed for futute reference. Old and Unfinished ::usiness (a) Reports of :_d hcc Committees (i) progress report regarding the ; laque in Iti_emory of h.arian Keith, Author. Earl Robertson had lc..,cated a Stone upon which the Ilaque can be mounted. Committee request the t th Reeve contact the County Engineer regarding the set back from the Road Allowance and obtain confirmation. (ii) Report regarding map showing hills of Oro and names ger.:-rally used in reference to same. - no further re ort/Ad Hoc Committee still in process and are to meet again to continue work. (iii) iter Hutchinson advised that he had cleaned the Guns -nd expressed ccncern about lacing them out- side unless they were enclosed when mounted and this would then mean maintenance of the enclosure. Latter to be reviewed with Council when delegation of this Committee meet with Council en items of concern of the Committee and request of Council tc meet regarding Township publications. (iv) Rep:crt regarding the maintenance of the frican Church as discussed at the last meeting. Scree interior rerairs are requires and this is tc be discussed with Council by the delegation.
