04 11 1991 Oro History Committee - MinutesTHE TOWNSHIP OF ORO HISTORY COMMITTEE I PTING AFRIL 11, 1991 The Township of Oro History committee met this afternoon at the Township Administration Building in the committee Room at the call of the Chairperson. All members having been duly notified. The following members were present: Loreen (Rice) Lucas Howard A. Campbell Walter Hutchinson Bernice Hickling Henry Neufeld Earl Robertson Absent: Neil MCNiven, Sandra Shelswell 0t.ening - The Meeting was opened by the Chairperson at 2:00 p.m. Minutes - The Minutes of the last regular meeting of March 21, 1991, copies of which had been forwarded to all members, were on motion of Bernice Hickling and Earl Robertson adopted as printed and received. Business Arsing from the Minutes of meeting held March 21, 1991. Secretary advised that a letter had been forwarded to Friesen Printers advising that the Township cf Oro had completed several History Books and that their services would not be required at this time, but that their letter and sample of work would be filed for future reference. Correspondence and Communications (a) presented letter from Administrator/Clerk advising that Oro Council had passed the following resolution: "Be it resolved that the date for the unveiling of the Marian Keith Plaque shall be Saturday, June 8, 1991, and further, Deputy Clerk Beth Oosthuizen co-ordinate the unveiling ceremonies with the Secretary for the Oro History Committee." (o) Presented copy of letter forwarded to Finlay Payne, Alex Johnston and Mrs. Betty Anne Greenwood advising that the Oro Council have set Saturday, June 8, 1991 for the un- veiling of the Flaque in memory of Marian Keith, and further that formal invitations and program would be forwarded to them and all persons on the list submitted by Finlay Fayne when same have been prepared after arrangements for the event have been made. New Business (a) A draft program for the unveiling of the Plaque in memory of Marian Keith was reviewed and changes, additions and/or cor- rections were made as follows: - Purpose, place, location - Pencil sketch o9'stone and Flaque. - Opening and brief remarks and history of Author - by Committe Chairperson - Historical background by Finlay Payne on behalf of the family ancestors. cont'd - 2 - - Remarks by Reeve, Township of Oro Robert E. Drury - Invocation, Dedication and Benediction by Re. Dr. Brice Martin (Secretary to contact Dr. Martin in this regard) - Recognition of invited guests and representatives of the Womens' Institutes that have participated finacially and otherwise in this event. - Collection to be taken to defray some of the costs pertinent to this event. - Closing Hymn - "Blest be the tie that Binds" Refreshments - Coffee, tea and cookies, etas., following the unveiling. - Rugby Community Hall to be reserved - taken care of by Earl Robertson. - P.A. System, tentatively arranged for by Secretary - to be confirmed. - Foot note to be on Program: Books of Poems written by the Author, Marian Keith to be displayed in the Hall (all that can be obtained) Also display of Township of Oro History Books Program to be prepared by Deputy Clerk and Secretary of this Committee once all arrangements have been completed and confirmed and Loreen Lucas has completed a pencil sketch of the Stone and Plaque which is to be on the cover of the program. Time for the event has been set as 2:00 p.m. (copy of the Invitations and Program to be appended to these minutes) (b) The matter of ordering Polyester Archival Envelopes for the preservation of Photographs was discussed and the following action was taken: Loved by Howard Campbell and seconded by Bernice Hickling that 500 Polyester Envelopes (Archival) for the preservation of Photogra_;hs (8x11) with three hole punched for Binders be ordered by the Township at a total cost of S348.50, plus the G.S.T. and Provincial tax. c) Howard Campbell submitted an invoice for the cost of a bulb for the Projector used to show the Township of Oro History slides. It was moved by Walter Hutchinson and seconded by Earl Robertson that the account for the Projector bulb be submitted to the Township Treasurer for payment. Walter Hutchinson advised that as instructed by the Committee he had submitted his account for the Display Book Case and mountings for the Lachine Guns at the Town Hall and that he had received payment for same. There being no further business at hand it was moved by Earl Robertson that the meeting adjourn at 3:50 p.m. Henry Neufeld, Loreen (Rice) Lucas Secretary.
