11 30 1988 Memo to Clerk/AdministratorNov. 30/88 lemo to Clerk/Administrator From: Township of Oro History Committee - following the meeting of the Committee held on November 29, 1988. According to Agenda under - Unfinished Business 5 (d) Howard Campbell representing the Simcoe County Historical Sites Committee advised that the County Committee is not prepared to support or undertake any assistance regrding the plaque in Memory of Marian Keith and also that the Prov- ince of Ontario are not interested in the project. The following is a re441tion of the History Committee as result of this report: "Moved by Marlene Mawdsley and seconded by Ruth Fraser that F.J. Payne and Alex Johnston be advised that the Province of Ontario and the Simcoe County Historical Sites Committee are not prepared to take any action to assist or undertake the iroject for the erection of a plaque in the Memory of (Author) Marian Keith at this time. And, further that the History Committee approach the Rugby Women's Institute in this matter to ascertain whether they would have any interest in persuing the request from F.J. Payne and Alex Johnston. After which the matter would be referred back to Oro Township Council for consideration." (It was also suggested that the History Committee ask the Rugby W.I. to approach the Clowes W.I. for input and/or assistance since the family connection also lived in the Edgar area.) (e) As result of verbal report from Administrator/Clerk that Dyment Stubley Printers had advised that an estimated cost for the rebinding of the Story Of Oro would be $1.60 per book. (this had not been confirmed in writing) "loved by Walter Hutchinson and seconded by Marlene Mawdsley that the Township of Oro History Committee recommend to the Township Oro Council that Council proceed with the rebinding of all the Story of Oro (2nd Edition) books with coil binding of all the books on hand at the price of $1.60 plus O.R.S.T., as quoted by Dyment Stubley Printers. And also further arrange with Dyment Stubley Frinters that once a notice as been advertised advising that copies purchased may be returned, by a specified time, for rebinding provided that the persons are prepared to pay for the cost of the rebinding. And Further, that the Committee recommend to Council that the price of the books after rebinding be increased to cover all handling costs for the project." The above recommendation of the Committee indicates that should Dyment Stubley Printers be prepardd to undertake the rebinding of the books on hand as soon as possible, and agree to do the balance of any returadd by purchasers at a later date for which a:. specified time of return had been set by Council. Also please advise when the books are to be taken for rebinding in order for Committee members to return all unsold books.
