DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND
THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF: - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT"
Councillor Crokam declared a pecuniary interest with item
3(a) on the agenda, passing of Accounts, #50860 to Maple
Leaf Disposal. The nature being the owner of the company
is her brother-in-law. Councillor Crokam did not
participate or vote on the matter.
Councillor Martin declared a potential pecuniary interest
with item 4(m) R. Alderson re: zoning By-law Enforcement
(pt Lot 21, Conca 12). The nature being his daughter lives
in Hawkestone. Councillor Martin did not participate or
vote on the matter.
councillor Dickie declared a potential pecuniary interest
with item 5(g) on the aqenda, resolution regarding S.C.B.E.
expenditures. The nature being he is a commercial cleaner.
Councillor Dickie did not participate or vote on the
matter.

Alderson of the procedure and events that occurred on this matte,
and further that Council concur that there is no zoning infracti
on the subject lands.

It is recommended that the accounts presented for the period
ending February 10, 1994, in the amount of $272,586.99, plus
payroll for the period ending February 3, 1994, in the amount of
$46,128.78, in accordance with the computer print-out presented
Council, be approved for payment.

It is recommended that the Road Expenditures for the period endi
February 10, 1994, be accepted as presented, and further, the
Treasurer be authorized to issue cheques in the amount of
$100,518.12.

MOTION NO. 17

It is recommended that
WHEREAS the cost of education in Canada has escalated to a point
that Canadians have the highest educational costs in the world.
AND WHEREAS a report recently released shows education in Canada
when directed towards problem solving falls far short of many
other world countries.
AND WHEREAS expenditures on the other hand grow higher each year,
with respect to operational costs.
AND WHEREAS as responsible Council members we must collectively
seek ways and means to assure more tax monies is directed into
education of the students without increasing the taxes of the ta
payers.
AND WHEREAS Simcoe County's Educational Boards expenditures
directed towards custodial costs in wages, sick leave and benefi
alone, not including materials and transportation costs 14
million, 79 thousand five hundred and ninety dollars each year.
AND WHEREAS such money could certainly add a great deal towards
direct education of students.
AND WHEREAS considerable savings could be realized if such
cleaning cost of our 100 schools were contracted out to private
companies.
THEREFORE LET IT BE RESOLVED that the Simcoe County School Board
research the actual costs of such contracts and what savings the
would be in tax dollars.
AND FURTHER a special committee be set up by the Simcoe County t
undertake the same study to confirm such fundings.

AND FURTHER that if such studies show that a worthwhile savings
could be realized that the Simcoe County School Board take
immediate action to institute contract proceedings with private
companies for custodial cleaning of all 100 schools in Simcoe
County.

It is recommended that the S.C.B.E. Trustee for Oro-Medonte Gail
O'Brien be invited to appear before Council to discuss the high
costs of education and be provided in advance, of the background
material generating the Councils concerns.

It is recommended that
WHEREAS many residents across the Township have expressed a
sincere interest in Environmental concerns;
AND WHEREAS there is a growing demand for the halt to the demise
of our wetlands;
AND WHEREAS there will be a diversity of interest in the welfare
of the ecosystem;
AND WHEREAS it is incumbent upon this Council to use as well as
work with such interested residents;
THEREFORE let it be resolved that the Township of Oro-Medonte
immediately undertake the establishment of an Oro-Medonte
Environmental Advisory Committee made up in part by members of
Council and residents of the Township of Oro-Medonte.
