COUNCIL MEETING

Council met this evening @ 7:05 p.m. with the following members present:

Mayor Ian Beard assumed the chair and called the meeting to order, followed by
prayer.
1. "DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND GENERAL NATURE
THEREOF - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT"
None Declared.
2. DEPUTATIONS:
7:08 p.m.
Kelly McCuaig and Angela McCuaig addressed
Council with respect to gravel truck traffic,
specific to speeding, the number and frequency
of trucks, start time for travelling the roads @
5:00 a.m., damage to the roads, and residents'
inability to walk or ride their bikes on the road.
The group suggested using a different route
than up the 3rd Line and whether the trucks
could start working later than 5:00 a.m.
Discussion occurred with other comments
being forthcoming. A petition was presented by
Mrs McCuaig.

RECOGNITION OF ACHIEVEMENTS:
None.
4. CONSENT AGENDA CORRESPONDENCE:
a) Report of Livestock Valuer Ernest Bidwell dated August 10, 1998 re: calf
killed by wolves. Calf owned by Chris Ellsmere, R. R. # 1, Barrie, Ontario.
Recommendation: Receive and Treasurer be authorized to
compensate Chris Ellsmere in the amount of $400.00.
5. REPORTS OF MUNICIPAL OFFICERS:
a) Report No. ADM98-31, Lynda Aiken, Clerk re: Citizen of the Year.
6. COMMUNICATIONS:
a) Ontario Crime Control Commission, correspondence re: Nominations for
Certificates of Excellence in crime prevention and law enforcement.
7. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES:
None.
8. PETITIONS:
a) Hugh Brown, Craig hurst, petition re: Township issuing a tender for the
best package for individual drilled water wells.
9. UNFINISHED OR NEW BUSINESS:
a) Councillor McConnell discussion re: Truck Traffic.
b) Councillor McConnell discussion re: Road Conditions.
c) Councillor Sommers discussion re: Community Policing.

Be it resolved that the agenda for the Regular Council Meeting dated
Wednesday, September 2, 1998, be adopted as printed and circulated with the
addition of the following:
14. BY-LAWS:
14. (e) By-law No. 1998-94
Being a By-law to Amend By-law No. 98-88, a
By-law to adopt the estimates of all amounts
required during the year and for levying the tax
rates for the year 1998.

a) Councillor McConnell, discussion re: Truck Traffic.
b) Councillor McConnell, discussion re: Road Conditions.
c) Councillor Sommers, discussion re: Community Policing.

Be it resolved that Report No. ADM98-31 from Lynda Aiken, Clerk, re: Citizen of
the Year be received and adopted.

Be it resolved that the correspondence from the Ontario Crime Control
Commission re: Certificates of Excellence be received and a nomination for Joan
Fitzgerald, Road Watch, be submitted.

Be it resolved that Petition from Hugh Brown, Craighurst re: Township issuing a
tender for the best package for individual drilled water wells be received.

Be it resolved that a By-law to amend By-law No. 97-92, a By-law for prohibiting
or regulating within the Municipality of the Township of Oro-Medonte the making
of noises likely to disturb the inhabitants of the said Township be introduced and
read a first and second time and numbered By-law No. 1998-90.
Carried.
That By-law No. 1998-90 be read a third time and finally passed, be engrossed
by the Clerk, signed and sealed by the Mayor.

Be it resolved that a By-law to amend By-law No. 95-97, a By-law to provide for
the giving of names to highways within the Township of Oro-Medonte, County of
Simcoe be introduced and read a first and second time and numbered By-law No.
1998-91.
Carried.
That By-law No. 1998-91 be read a third time and finally passed, be engrossed
by the Clerk, signed and sealed by the Mayor.

Be it resolved that a By-law to provide for the giving of names to highways within
the Township of Oro-Medonte, County of Simcoe be introduced and read a first
and second time and numbered By-law No. 1998-92.

That By-law No. 1998-92 be read a third time and finally passed, be engrossed
by the Clerk, signed and sealed by the Mayor.

Be it resolved that a By-law to authorize the amendment of agreement registered
as number 275724 made with Scott Silo Construction Limited be introduced and
read a first and second time and numbered By-law No. 1998-93.

That By-law No. 1998-93 be read a third time and finally passed, be engrossed
by the Clerk, signed and sealed by the Mayor.
