Len Hassberger, Barrie O.P.P., Bud Arbour Mayor Beard chaired the meeting and called the meeting to order at 1 :00 p.m. 1. ADOPTION OF THE AGENDA: 2. DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND GENERAL NATURE THEREOF: - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT. None. 3. DEPUTATIONS: a) 1 :05 p.m. Ann Orser provided Council with information regarding the request to reduce the speed limit going through Price's Corners. b) 1:15p.m. Harry Dahme of Gowling, Strathy & Henderson provided information to Council regarding Hardwood Hills and the future plans and recent accomplishments. Background information was also provided with respect to the negotiations between Hardwood Hills and the County of Simcoe. . I - , I I 4. Ii 5. PUBLIC WORKS: a) Report No. PW99-09, Keith Mathieson, Manager Public Works, re: 1165452 Ontario Inc. (Thompson) Site Plan Agreement. 6. PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT: a) Report No. PD1999-8, Andria Leigh, Township Planner, re: Committee of Adjustment Decisions for February 11, 1999. Motion No. 1 Moved by Craig, Seconded by McConnell It is recommended that the Agenda for the Committee of the Whole Meeting dated Wednesday, February 24, 1999, be adopted as printed and circulated. Carried. Motion No.2 Moved by McConnell, Seconded by Hough It is recommended that the correspondence from Shirley McDougall and Ann Orser, Prices Corners, re: Speed Limit on Hwy. 12 at Prices Corners be received and further that the petitions presented be forwarded to the Ministry of Transportation with Council support that the speed limit be reduced to 60 km/hour through Price's Corners. Carried. Motion No.3 Moved by McConnell, Seconded by Hough It is recommended that the correspondence from Harry Dahme, Gowling, Strathy & Henderson representing Hardwood Hills re: Appeal of County of Simcoe Official Plan be received and WHEREAS Hardwood Hills has requested the assistance of the Township of Oro-Medonte; II . , I AND WHEREAS Hardwood Hills Cross Country Ski and Mountain Bike Centre is a nationally recognized facility located in the Township of Oro-Medonte; AND WHEREAS Hardwood Hills Cross Country Ski and Mountain Bike Centre provides numerous benefits to the people and the Township of Oro-Medonte, and the whole of Simcoe County; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: 1. That the County of Simcoe also recognize the uniqueness and the importance of Hardwood Hills to the people and the economy of the County of Simcoe; 2 jl I I I I I I 2. That the County of Simcoe work cooperatively with Hardwood Hills to ensure the continued growth and development of the Hardwood Hills facility; 3. That the County of Simcoe negotiate in good faith with Hardwood Hills for the purpose of resolving the present matters in dispute between them; 4. That the County of Simcoe proceed to mediation, and if necessary arbitration to resolve the dispute with Hardwood Hills, if the issues are not resolved within the next 45 days; and 5. That the County of Simcoe direct staff to proceed as quickly as possible to reach an agreement satisfactory to both parties. Carried. Motion No.5 Moved by Bell, Seconded by Fountain It is recommended that Report No. ADM99-11 by Lynda Aiken, Clerk, re: Listing Agreements - Selection (deferred from February 17,1999) be received and adopted, and that the Clerk be authorized to execute the listing agreement of Emory Miller Ltd. on behalf of the Township, and further that real estate firms submitting listing agreements for consideration be so advised.
