Also Present Was: David R. Burton, Thelma Halfacre, Shirley Woodrow, Gord Hill, Lynn Hazlett, Alastair Crawford, Jean Crawford, Bob Shultz. Mayor Ian Beard assumed the chair and called the meeting to order, followed by prayer. 1. "DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF. - IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT" None declared. 2. DEPUTATIONS: (a) 7:20 p.m. Mr. Mitch Fraser, representing Tri Sport Promotions Inc. spoke to Council regarding their 9th Annual Triathlon to be held on Sunday, August 20th for which the 56 mi. bike run portion is held (Hwy. #12/Conc. 2, Old Barrie Rd, cty. Rd. 57 & 15/16 Sideroad). Severn Township had concerns mainly due to the short sprint bike route where approximately 1300 participate on the 30 km route. The long sprint through Oro-Medonte involves approximately 250-300 athletes and length of distance causes less congestion. All corners are monitored by the opp and volunteers with the hours for this portion of route being about 4 hours (10:00 - 2: 00 p.m.). Tri Sport provided liability insurance for the Township and will submit copy of same within next few weeks. Proceeds from the event go towards Crimestoppers. e (b) 7:35 p.m. Ms. Lynn Hazlett, representing her parents as the owners of 5 parcels of land on Pt. Lts. 18 & 19, Conc. 1 & 2, (formerly Orillia) spoke to Council requesting consideration to waive penalty and interest charges 2. e 3. (a) 4. A recent house fir in December 1993 for which there wa no insurance coverage ha contributed to their financia situation as well as the ailin health of both parents.
