On Wednesday, July 23, 2014 the Council of the Corporation of the Township of Oro -
Medonte will hold a public meeting, pursuant to Section 12 of the Development Charges
Act, 1997, to present and obtain public input on the Township's proposed Development
Charges By -law and underlying background study.
All interested parties are invited to attend the Public Meeting of Council and any person
who attends the meeting may make representations relating to the proposed by -law and
background study. The meeting is to be held:

proposed by -law and the background study are being made available as of July 9, 2014

Development Charges
Purpose:
a To recover the capital costs associated with
residential and non - residential growth within
the Township
v The capital costs are in addition to what costs
would normally be constructed as part of a
subdivision (i.e. internal roads, sewers,
watermains, roads, sidewalks, streetlights, etc.)
❑ Municipalities are empowered to impose these
charges via the Development Charges Act
(DCA)

• Reduce in part or whole DC for types of development or
classes of development (e.g. industrial or churches)
• May phase -in over time
• Redevelopment credits to recognize what is being replaced
