Being a By -Law to Authorize the Use of Optical Scanning Vote Tabulators
for the 2014 Municipal Election
Whereas Section 42 of the Municipal Elections Act, 1996 provides that the Council
of a Municipality may, by by-law, authorize the use of optical scanning vote
tabulators for the purpose of counting votes at Municipal Elections.
And Whereas the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Oro-Medonte
approved, by Motion No. C131002-12, that the 2014 Municipal Election be
conducted utilizing a "vote anywhere" principle with traditional paper ballot and vote
tabulation equipment.
And Whereas the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Oro-Medonte
deems it expedient to pass a by-law to authorize the use of optical scanning vote
tabulators.
Now Therefore the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Oro-Medonte
hereby enacts as follows:
1. That the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Oro-Medonte hereby
authorizes the use of optical scanning vote tabulators for the purpose of
counting votes at the 2014 Municipal Election.
2. And That this by-law shall come into force and take effect on the final
passing thereof.
