Mayor Ian Beard opened the meeting by explaining to those present that this Public Meeting was to receive public comments with respect to a proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment, under provisions of section 34, of the Planning Act. The applicant has applied to rezone certain lands, Part of Lot 13, Concession 3, former Township of Oro, to recognize a new residential use and to satisfy a condition of the Committee of Adjustment. To date, the Council of the corporation of the Township of Oro- Medonte have not made a decision on this application, other than proceeding to this Public Meeting. only after comments are received from the Public, requested agencies and Township Staff, within the appropriate time period, will Council make a decision on this application. 8 Notice of the Public Meeting was mailed out on December 29, 1994, to all property owners within 120 metres of the subject lands. I Mayor Beard then asked the Clerk if there had been any correspondence received on this matter. The Clerk responded by indicating that both the Simcoe county District Health Unit and the Nottawasaga Valley Conservation Authority advised they had no objection. The Mayor then stated that those persons present would be afforded the opportunity of asking questions with respect to the proposed Amendment. He then turned the meeting over to the Township Planner, Ms. Kris Menzies, to explain the purpose and effect of the proposed Zoning By-Law Amendment. , " , 8 8 I . - 2 - Iris Kenzies Thank you, Mr. Mayor. The purpose of tonight's public meeting is to afford Council the opportunity to have public comment on this rezoning prior to its consideration. The property is located on Part Lot 13, Concession 3, in the former Township of Oro. The proposal is to rezone the property from its current Agricultural Zone to a Rural Residential Zone. The reason why the applicant is requesting this is that they were conditionally granted a severance by the Committee of Adjustment. One of the conditions on that severance is that the lot, which is to be used for residential purposes, is rezoned to an appropriate category that will not only recognize its smaller lot size, approximately an acre in size, it will also recognize the intended use, that being residential. Thus, the Committee is of the opinion, and this follows the policies of the Oro-Medonte Council, that the property should be more appropriately rezoned to a Residential category and this is why the applicant has requested this rezoning. Those are my comments, Mr. Mayor. Mayor Beard Thank you, Kris. Is there anybody who has any questions on this matter? Council? Are there questions from the public on this matter? Further questions from the public, or Council? Council wishes to thank all those in attendance for your participation and will consider all the matters before reaching a decision. If anyone wishes to be notified of the passing of the proposed By-law, would they please leave their name and address with the Clerk. KOTION NO.1 Moved by craig, seconded by Cotton Be it resolved that this Special Public Meeting of Council (Part Lot 13, Concession 3, formerly Township of Oro) now be adjourned at 7:09 p.m. Carried. ~ !1dDRD
