That the correspondence dated December 21, 2012 and information presented by Bobbi Lovering, Chief Building Official, re: Ontario CodeNews Issue 211, re: Public Consultation on Building Code Accessibility Requirements be received. 2. And That the following recommendations be forwarded to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing: a) That the `Wider clear door widths be no less than 36"(900mm) over the current proposed amendment of a minimum 860 mm clear space; b) That the `Ambulatory accessible stall' also be required to include a turning space required for individuals using wheelchairs; c) That the turning radius of a wheelchair be amended from 5' to 6' to allow a person to provide assistance; d) That the three storey requirement for Group C (residential) and Group D (business, personal services), making it mandatory to provide elevator and be accessible throughout, be amended from three storeys to two storeys for all these occupancies; e) That `emergency alarms' should have an auditory and visual signal mode in all buildings; f) And That that tactile surface distinctions on surface transitions be considered building regulatory for the visually impaired.
