BY-LAW NUMBER 96-122
Being a By-law to Regulate the Distribution and Use of Water and to Fix the Prices and the Time of
Payment and to Amend By-Law No.1 051 of the former Township of Oro
WHEREAS the Township ofOro, the Township of Medonte and portions of the Township ofVespra, Flos
and Orillia became the Township ofOro-Medonte under the County of Simcoe Act, c.33,S,O, 1993, an Act
respecting the restructuring of the County of Simcoe given Royal Assent in December 1993;
AND WHEREAS Council of the former Township ofOro passed by-Law No. 1051 with respect to the
assumption for maintenance certain water lines and shut off valves and two fire hydrants on lands on a Plan of
Subdivision in part of Lot 1, Concession 4, known as Registered Plan No, 1587;
AND WHEREAS Section 8 of the Public Utilities Act, Chapter P.52, R.S,O. 1990, authorizes Council to
regulate the distribution and use of water in all places where and for all purposes for which it may be required and
fix the prices for the use thereof and the time of payment;
AND WHEREAS there may be agreements with respect to waterworks systems;
AND WHEREAS Council of the Township of Oro-Medonte has adopted the current year estimates;
AND WHEREAS Council of the Township of Oro-Medonte deems it appropriate to Amend By-law No.
1051 of the former Township of Oro;
NOW THEREFORE, Council of The Corporation of the Township ofOro-Medonte enacts as follows:
1. That the rate shall be imposed against the ratepayers serviced by the Horseshoe Valley _ Oro, Zone 1,
waterworks system, including Plan 1587, for the supply of water;
2. That the rate shall be an annual flat rate for the calendar year and shall be billed annually. The rate shall be
pro-rated for new units, based on assessment information;
3. That the residential rate for the year, if paid by the due date, shall be $ 200.00;
4. That the residential rate for the year, if not paid by the due date, shall be $ 220.00;
5. That the commercial rate for the year shall be based on an equivalent number of residential users;
6, That the due date for 1996 shall be October 28, 1996;
7. That Section 3 of By-Law 1051 of the former Township ofOro is hereby revoked;
8, That this By-Law shall take effect as of January 1, 1996.
