I personally have know these two for about ten years, having first met them at classes that I taught on behalf of the Barrie Kennel and Obedience Club for folks that wanted to learn how to show dogs in confirmation shows. They routinely attended with dogs that were clean, well socialized and well behaved. Since first meeting them I learned that Alana has had considerable experience training both her own dogs and dogs owned by other folks in basic and advanced obedience. Since knowing them I have been invited to help evaluate puppies, as well as older dogs of show age at both their home, and my own as well as at shows. In all cases the dogs were well cared for, being clean, healthy, and extremely friendly and in most cases definitely of the caliber that would do well at the shows. Should there be any need for further character reference I can be contacted at (705)324-2357. Sincerely, Sean Shields Formerly of Vishnu Kennels 767 Ridge Road West Oro Station On. LOL 2E0 Z Hi Lorys & Alana Doris and I just wanted to pass on a Thank You for all the help you've given us in raising and learning about our puppy Zoey. We've really learned a lot about the German Shepherd breed and have enjoyed "almost" every minute we've had with Zoey. Ha! Ha! We have had a few trying moments.:) We could not have had a better match in a puppy, for us than we have in Zoey. We have had numerous compliments on how beautiful she looks and her great temperament and I can't begin to count how many times we have received comments on how calm and obedient she is. "Thank You" We really appreciated the knowledge and concern you had shown us when we were going through your screening process for getting a German Shepherd puppy from you. We enjoyed the meeting we had with you, and discussing the concerns you had about the type of home she would have, the food we had intended to feed her, and about the kind of care and exercise she would be getting. It really showed us that we were getting our puppy from a breeder who really cared about what kind of home their puppies were going to. We took advantage of the obedience classes that were offered to us with the puppy purchase, and we found them very helpful as a good base for raising our puppy. I also wanted to say, we really appreciated the the time you had given us, when we had stopped by your house on several occasions and had a chance to talk to you about any concerns we had at the time. You had never seemed to be in a hurry, and really wanted to help us with the issues we had. On a final note, Zoey has been a joy to our home, and we would recommend you to anyone who was looking for a German Shepherd and wanted to get one from a breeder who really cared about their dogs. Thanks again for all the help and advice you have given us, and we look forward to the next time we see you, and can meet some more of your dogs. We had the pleasure of meeting Alana some year and half ago while we were researching a suitable breeder that raised good tempered Shepherds. Having had Shepherds for the last 40 years as part of our growing family we had come into contact with many breeders, we were extremely impressed with Alana and Lorys and their clean loving atmosphere for their dogs. We had just lost our last Shepherd to cancer and were looking to replace her with a good healthy, well- tempered, female pup. They introduced us to her "Roxie ", a healthy even tempered female with a loving disposition. It was clear to us that this puppy had been well raised and trained around a family atmosphere. We are very happy with Roxie and she has become a loving member of our family. We owe this to Alana and Lorys and their devotion to raising healthy German Shepherds with good breeding backgrounds. I have been lucky enough to come into contact with them and recieve our families magnificent house pet. There professionalism in transactions prior to recieving Bullet as well as afterwords was without reproach. Sincerely, Sonny Birring To Whom It May Concern: I am writing this letter in support of the kennel application put forward by Alana De Charette and Lorys Fraccaro. I purchased my dog, Pixie, 2 and half years ago from Alana and Lorys. The entire experience for me, from the very beginning has been an incredibly positive one. Alana and Lorys are experienced breeders and dog trainers, and have been exceptionally supportive of me and my family throughout the process of bringing Pixie home, training her as a puppy, and dealing with issues as they arise in Pixie's adulthood. The dogs at their home are beautiful, intelligent dogs with excellent temperaments, raised and trained by Alana and Lorys who bring out the best in the dogs, and with the support they provide, including free obedience classes, they bring the best out in the owners as well. If I ever have a question about training, or any of Pixie's behavior, I receive an almost immediate response with suggestions from Alana. Alana and Lorys truly go above and beyond in support of the dogs they have bred and their owners. Pixie has been such a wonderful addition to our family. It is with the utmost confidence that I endorse Alana and Lorys in their application. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for your consideration, Jill Esmonde, B.A., M.Ed, Professor, School of Liberal Studies, Georgian College Jill.esmonde @georgiancollege.ca 0 7- UrK30Cpb We were looking for our first family dog and wanted a German Shepherd. We came into contact with Lorys and Alana, we immediately felt confident and trusting in their abilities to give us a dog that would be safe in our family home with our young children. We quickly drove up as Alana and Lorys had the 'perfect' dog for us. Were they right! Lexi (our name) was 11 months old, so sweet and beautiful, it took five minutes for us to say 'yes'. Lexi can be walked by our 6 year old daughter, she is kind, social with other pets and people, supersmart, beautiful, healthy and well trained. People think we are incredible dog trainers and we admit we had little to do with it, we simply went to Alana and Lorys, and were given a trained dog, we follow Alana's training advice and Lexi responds beautifully. When we get another dog we will only to go them, we love sharing our story as new dog owners, we are so grateful to have Lexi in our family and to have their ongoing support in our doggie adventures. Chris and Laurel Giasson Lim- To whom it may concern, This letter represents the thoughts and feelings of many of us who own German Sheppard's and are thankful for an association with Lorys and Alana. My husband and I own a three and one have year old German Sheppard, Xena, who we have had since she was 3 months old. From the day I brought Xena home, she appeared to be a very fearful puppy. Upon advice of my vet I began researching German Sheppard breeders /trainers in our area. It was recommended by an acquiesce that we contact Lorys and Alana. After inviting Alana to our home to watch the interaction between the trainer and Xena we enrolled our dog into puppy classes. It was clear to us that we were dealing with someone who had an innate feeling for the breed and what they needed. Unlike our previous dog, a golden retriever, her personality proved to be more of a challenge as she got older. Thankfully we have had Alana and Lorys to walk us through any behavioral problems we have come up against. Their experience with this breed continued to keep us on track to a healthy adult /canine relationship. We have also been able to have Xena board with Alana and Lorys who not only takes care of our dog in a loving environment, but continues the training process as well. The boarding facilities are clean and safe and we are relaxed taking a holiday and knowing that Xena is happy to be placed with her. As a pet owner, going away and leaving your pet is something you don't take lightly, for us it is made easy. I hope to be able to rely on Lorys and Alana in the future to care for Xena, we would not trust her with anyone else. This letter will allow you a personal insight into our experience in purchasing a puppy from Moda German Shepherd (Lorys Fraccaro). In deciding to purchase a German shepherd, my husband and I conducted a great deal of research on the various breeders within our area. We contacted numerous breeders and Moda German Shepherd, (Lorys Fraccaro) caught our attention and immediately we could sense the passion he has for his Shepherds, even prior to meeting with him face to face. The process took sometime as he had us answer various question and complete an application. Through the application process, it was evident by the various question asked, that Lorys Fraccaro had not only the passion for his dogs, but a genuine concern for where the puppy was going to reside. Lorys Fraccaro then proceeded to explain the various rules and guideline as to what can occur and what can not regarding the Shepherd, if we were to be approved. The above process had my husband and I minds made up, in that we wanted to purchase a puppy from Lorys Fraccaro, Moda German Shepherds. Following the telephone conversation we were then invited to visit the home and to see first hand where the Shepherds reside. While there, Lorys Fraccaro took the time not only to communicate about his Shepherds, but really took the time to get to know my husband and I. Lorys Fraccaro then gave us a tour as to where the Shepherds sleep, eat, run and play. My husband and I were very pleased with the amount of space allotted for the Shepherds, the cleanliness and the overall care and maintenance of his property. We then were able to view the various dogs residing at his home, it was immediately apparent that the Shepherds were feed properly, groomed regularly, and in just observing the interaction between Lorys Fraccaro and his dogs, it was obvious that the passion and loyalty Lorys Fraccaro holds for his Shepherds, they as well hold for him. Following the initial screening process, my husband and I were approved to purchase a Shepherd from Moda (Lorys Fraccaro). Following the purchase of the Shepherd we were invited to come and play with the puppies a few times prior to the day they were able to take him home. The day we picked up our puppy, needles to say we were very excited, but not only to have our new puppy, but excited to meet all the other new puppy owners from the same litter. The day the puppies leave Lorys Fraccaro home the communication and support does not end. It has been a year since the day we picked up our Shepherd and I can not even put into words the amount of support Lorys Fraccaro has provided us. Whether it is a small question or a concern, we can count on Lorys Fraccaro to be there, either in person when needed or by telephone. We have continued to visit Lorys often and from time to time have needed our Shepherd to stay with him for the weekend. We trust Lorys Fraccaro whole heartedly to care for our Shepherd, knowing that he is cared for, allows us the ease in enjoying our time away. The above process of purchasing a Shepherd from Moda (Lorys Fraccaro) has been an amazingly humbling experience, so much that we have just purchased another Shepherd and again Lorys Fraccaro has continued to be of great support. My husband and I never realized that when purchasing our Shepherd we would also be gaining not only a puppy but a lifetime filled with the amazing support and guidance of Lorys Fraccaro. My above experience doesn't even beginning to express the gratitude and pleasure this process has been in purchasing a Shepherd from Moda German Shepherds (Lorys Fraccaro), words cannot even begin to explain the joy not only our Shepherd has brought us, but the support Lorys Fraccaro continues to give. Sincerely, Melissa Maidment mi 10 August 2012 102 Eccles Street North Barrie, ON L4N OY7 Township of Oro - Medonte 148 Line 7 South Oro, ON LOL 2X0 City Council I am writing this letter to inform you about my relationship with Lorys Fraccaro and Moda German Shepherds. Over the years, I have purchase two German shepherd puppies from Lorys (Moda Shepherds). There are many reasons for this decision on purchasing a dog from Lorys such as, the friendliness and temperaments of all his dogs especially the adult dogs. I never once felt threatened or intimidated. The living condition of where the dogs /puppies lived was exceptionally clean. I have been to many breeders' homes and this was by far the most well taken care off. Additionally, the yearly get - togethers are a wonderful idea. It gave people the opportunity to see the parents again and the other siblings. Watching the playmate interact with each other is a great experience for the puppies and for the owners. In addition, the deciding factor that made me select Lorys as a breeder was his extensive contract that made it very clear he cared deeply about his animals. Not many breeder offer this kind of service. I would highly recommend Lorys Fraccaro as breeder to anybody. I believe that more people should be doing the right things as he does. Lorys genuinely cares about what he is doing and it shows by this very satisfied customer. Sincerely James Malkos Good Afternoon, IZ This e -mail is a letter of reference is with respect to Alana and Lorys German Shepherd Breeders located in Hillsdale, Ontario. We have dealt with Alana and Lorys for almost three years. We met with them in November of '09 and then we purchased a German Shepherd puppy from them in March, 2010. Alana and Lorys are always professional, organized, knowledgeable and goes above and beyond every time I come to either of them with a question or concern. Alana holds training sessions for all their dogs and she does this because it benefits her in the long run. I have referred dozens of clients to her as a result of individuals watching or seeing our dog and his overall behaviour. They care so much about everyone of their dogs that they breed. Example: one of the litter mates of Delgado came down with a strange neurological condition. She called us right away to inform us and asked us to keep an eye open for certain behaviour. And this is just one example. (The pup ended up having lyme disease , which she kindly informed us of a few days later). When our pup was small I texted /called or emailed Alana weekly, if not more. Always patient. Always understanding. Always informative. As mentioned above, continually goes above and beyond what I am expecting. I could go on and on about all the positives, but I'm sure you get the picture. However, if you wish to speak with me further, I'd be more than happy to provide whatever information you require. 1 can be reached at 1- 416 - 487 -4828 or cell 1- 416 - 456 -8342. Sincerely, Marilyn Minos Toronto, On *[3 We purchased our puppy when he was twelve weeks old from Alana and Lorys. I was immediately impressed with the website because they listed the genetic line of the breeding dogs, and this was important to me. Realizing that Shepherds can have numerous health issues, I wanted a history of the parents. I phoned the number and spoke to Alana, who had puppies available. For Alana and Lorys, their dogs are family. They are very caring people who love their dogs and put the animal's welfare before anything else. The area is spotless; the dogs are beautiful to look at, and all had a lovely, friendly disposition. I put my hand in front of them and received licks and tail wags. They live on a large property where the dogs can run free, and the kennels are large clean. We met the mother of the puppies, and were given information and a contact number for the father, as the breeder was in the States. I had already seen his papers, as they were on the website. I spoke to him and was satisfied with his breeding. My husband and I could not decide between a few of the puppies, so Alana let us have time alone with the dogs, as much as we wanted, something I most appreciated. She did not rush us, nor did I feel pressured in any way by her or Lorys. It seems our puppy found us, the smallest of the litter, who was named Peanut. He was full of beans and affection and both my husband and I fell in love with him. Peanut, or Storm as he is now called - though he still answers to his former name- is now six months old. He is a complete and utterjoy. Even my vet was impressed with his temperament. She tested him and said he did not show any aggression at all, and he was bright. She also assured me he is in excellent health with a beautiful coat. He is smart, gentle, loving, and a complete clown. We are constantly amused by his antics; he is the star of our family. Alana even gave us free training lessons and has warned me (as does my husband) that I should be stricter with him, but Storm and I get along just fine. I would highly recommend Alana and Lorys to anyone considering a German Shepherd, in fact I would not go anywhere else. One last thing; we went to see Alana and Lorys a few weeks ago, for a reunion of Storm's litter and to pick up his papers. Alana asked me if there were any problems. Again, I was impressed. I've never had a breeder ask me that, (and I have had experience with quite a few) and the question took me aback. Of course, the answer was no, but it is a comfort to know that should I have any concerns I can contact Alana and Lorys for the duration of Storm's life. They care as much about him as we do. The process when looking for a puppy is very confusing. There are hundreds of breeders out there stating their puppies are the best. So how do you chose? When we found Alana we knew we had made the right chose. She was very upfront with all her puppies, we were able to see both the parents along with their pedigree papers. We were able to choose a puppy from birth and visit it 3 times at her assistance. She was the only breeder offering a unheard of 5 year health guarantee on all her puppies. When we took our little guy home Alana and Lorys were right there with advice on feeding and toilet training, it didn't end there. They offered and insisted all their dogs come to a weekly FREE! socializing and obedience class. She ran this class and still does faithfully on a weekly basis still for free. I really don't know where they find the time. It is truly amazing commitment. It doesn't end there. Alana and lorys have helped me pursue my desire to have my dog Titan become a Canadian Champion himself. Now I know absolutely nothing about dog shows, training, grooming you name it. For the past 2 years they have taken Titan to 4 dog shows. they have trained him for the ring, groomed him till he looks gorgeous. Titan has earned 7 points to date for his Canadian Champion and I have full confidence Alana and Lorys will complete this mission they have put them self on. They are dedicated breeders and only want the best for their dogs. They have taken the line of German Sheppard's and changed the impressions of Shepherd from vicious guard dogs, to dogs with loving temperaments and family pets. My dog doesn't even bark and is safe around children and elderly he loves everyone! Not a vicious bone in his body. They make sure that all the dogs they breed look amazing have good hips and elbows and beautiful temperaments. I feel safe and confident in leaving my dog with them anytime, anywhere. I think your community would benefit by having a safe reliable kennel where people can leave their dogs with a piece of mind. Good value and always more then they bargain for. If you have any further questions please don to hesitate in contacting me. Sincerely Mina Capitano To Whom It May Concern: I am writing in regards to Lorys and Alana German Shepherd breeders. We purchased a dog from them a year ago and they are exceptional breeders who care deeply about their dogs. They are passionate about what they do, and do everything to code. They are extremely nice people and have been nothing but excellent in regards to feedback and helpfulness. When needed they were there to answer any questions and always asked how the dogs were doing. Before going to Alana and Lorys we looked around, and did careful research. We went to many different breeders, and Alana and Lorys were the only ones who we felt comfortable buying a dog from. Upon entering their home we could tell immediately the dogs were cared for, and well trained. The dogs were in clean kennels and the extremely large field they had to run in was clean and free of debris. They also had amazing temperaments and we felt completely comfortable around them. The inside of the house where the dogs stayed at times was also in very good order. Overall our impression of Alana and Lorys was that they were caring people who bred because they loved the breed and not some backyard breeder. They were nothing but helpful with us, and made sure they answered any questions we had. We never ever felt like we were being a bother to them. Definitely the best breeder out there in Ontario, without a doubt! Thank you for everything, our gratitude is endless, Rita Potestio and Mazen Khosho Hey guys, Just wanted to drop you a message to say how pleased Vicky and I are with Zeus. He is a handsome growing puppy, who loves to discover new things. We are very pleased with the time we spent with you and the caring help you have given us. We gave our preferences for what we would like in a dog and you delivered. Zeus is seven months old now and is the talk of the building. He is super friendly, learns quickly and handsome. Zeus has become an amazing attribute to our family; he can sit and relax with use, hike with use forever, fetch his ball with lightning speed or just walk down the street with us. We have had many strangers approach us asking us where we got such a beautiful dog and we always drop your name and website. I think the thing that caught our attention most was the attention to detail we received from you in regards to our selection of our puppy and the fact that the assistance doesn't stop after you pick up your puppy. The obedience classes trained us more than Zeus in return giving us the confidence and knowledge to train Zeus for our lifestyle so he feels productive and fulfilled. We also know that when the need arises we can contact you for help; this is invaluable to us and sets our mind at ease. We all thank you for your knowledge. Vicky and I for a great puppy and Zeus for a family he fits well in. He is very active and we love that as so are we. He is at home chasing his ball, hiking (his favourite), running or just relaxing on the couch with us as we wind down after a busy day. I cannot say enough about you or Zeus he has taken our hearts and he's a great dog. Thank You Jamie & Vicky Dear Alana & Lorys, Thank you so much for providing us with such a great family pet. Your guidance and support over the last 6 months are more than I would have ever expected from any breeder, hands down. Puppies are a handful and you were there for us every step of the way. It is more than apparent how much you love ALL your dogs. Molly is a fabulous dog and we all love her to pieces. She is great with the kids and really has just been such a great addition to our family. We couldn't have asked for more from her, and from you. I would, and have, highly recommended you and your Shepherds in a heartbeat. If we ever decide to make the jump to a two dog household, there's no doubt that you'll be the one I'll contact. With much love, The Bek family August 10, 2012 Township of Oro - Medonte 148 Line 7 South P.O. Box 100, Oro, Ontario Attn: J. Douglas Irwin Re: Zoning By -law Amendment for Concession 4, East Part of Lot 13, municipally known as 5094 Line 4 North 2012- ZBA -04 (Fraccaro) We oppose the proposed amendment to rezone 5094 Line 4 North from Agricultural /Rural Zone to "Dog Kennel ". This property is small with the buildings in close proximity to the residences on two adjacent properties (10 -200 hundred feet). This will negatively impact both the quality of life of the residents of the adjacent properties and the value of their properties when they wish to sell in the future. The dogs are housed in outdoor runs and bark when people go past. The repetitive sound of multiple barking dogs is disruptive to the immediate neighbors and other homes in the community. CBC news recently reported the bark of one Labrador Retriever at 97 decibels (90 -110 dB have been reported) which is equivalent to the sound of a jackhammer at one metre. This is louder than a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Hearing damage occurs with longterm exposure greater than 85 dB. Please also refer to www.safetyyet.com/osha /noise.htm. It indicates that in a multiple dog setting, such as a kennel, the noise range typically ranges from 95 -115 dB. Ear protection is recommended for anybody exposed to this for more than 15 minutes in an 8 hour work day. This is of particular concern for the property on the east side of 5094 Line 4 as their house is at the property line, immediately adjacent to the kennel. For a rural property to have a dog kennel, there should be a minimum distance from adjacent homes and an expectation that the dogs are not permanently housed outside as this is disruptive to others. We are sympathetic that the landowner wishes to pursue this business opportunity and has made investments as such, however, unfortunately, this land is not well- suited and it is disrespectful to the community and to the property owners who have purchased adjacent properties in good faith. Thank you for considering our letter. We also request that you notify us of the decision of the Township of Oro - Medonte on this matter. Sincerely, Sara Ayres and Peter Sponagle
