1998-067 To Adopt an Emergency Plan THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF ORO-MEDONTE BY-LAW NO. 98- 67 Being a By-law to Adopt an Emergency Plan e WHEREAS the Province of Ontario has enacted The Emergency Plans Act, 1990, which pennits the fonnulation and implementation of Emergency Plans by the Council of a Municipality; AND WHEREAS this Act makes provision for the Head of Council to declare that an emergency exits in the Municipality or in any part thereof and also provides the Head of Council with authority to take such action or deliver such orders as considered necessary, being not contrary to law, to implement the Emergency Plan in the Municipality; AND WHEREAS the Act authorizes employees of the Municipality to take action under an emergency plan where an emergency exists but has not yet been declared to exist; AND WHEREAS the aim of this plan is to make provision for the extraordinary arrangements and measures that may have to be taken to safeguard the properties, health, safety and welfare of the people in the Township of Oro- Medonte when faced with an emergency, in those situations where the Provincial Emergency Plan is unlikely to be implemented or until it is implemented; AND WHEREAS the Council of The Corporation of the Township of Oro-Medonte deems it necessary and expedient to create such emergency plan. NOW THEREFORE the Council of The Corporation of the Township ofOro-Medonte enacts as follows: 1. That the Emergency Plan consisting of Schedule "A" to this By-law be and is hereby adopted. 2. That Schedule "A" to this By-law may be amended from time to time provided, however, that the amended Schedule shall be forthwith filed with the Clerk, whose responsibility it shall be to retain the up-to-date copies of the Schedule to this By-law. 3. That in the event of any dispute with respect to the Schedule to this By-law, the infonnation contained in the Schedule held by the Clerk shall be deemed to be correct. 4. That a Township ofOro-Medonte Emergency Planning Committee shall be established, comprised of members of the Municipal Control Group and Municipal Support Group as provided in Schedule shall make changes as are considered appropriate. 5. That all previous docwnents relating to or constituting an emergency plan are hereby repealed and deemed to be invalid. 6. That this By-law shall come into force and take effect on it final passing thereof. Read a first and second time this 17th day of June, 1998.
