WHEREAS the Official Plan for the County of Simcoe recognizes the importance
of surface and underground water and the need to maintain this resource for
future sustainability;

AND WHEREAS the Official Plan for the County of Simcoe identifies the need for
follow-up studies in respect to water quality and quantity;

AND WHEREAS the Official Plan for the Township of Oro-Medonte identifies the
importance of water quality and quantity within the Township and specifically
within the Oro Moraine;
AND WHEREAS the Township of Oro-Medonte has initiated a groundwater
monitoring project within the Oro Moraine;
AND WHEREAS the Township recognizes that the groundwater within the Oro
Moraine flows beyond the jurisdiction of Oro-Medonte and there is a growing
demand for groundwater resources within the County of Simcoe;

AND WHEREAS the County of Simcoe and the Cities of Barrie and Orillia are
within one of the fastest growing areas in Canada, and are dependent on
groundwater for their residents;
NOW THEREFORE be it resolved that:
The Township of Oro-Medonte request that the County of Simcoe complete a
comprehensive groundwater study of the Oro Moraine, in co-operation with the
study the Township of Oro-Medonte is undertaking;

That the Ministry of the Environment, the Cities of Barrie and Orillia, and the
County of Simcoe be requested to participate in the study financially and with
their technical expertise;

And that the Lake Simcoe Region Conservation Authority and the Nottawasaga
Valley Conservation Authority be requested to participate in the study financially
and with their technical expertise; and that the Severn Sound Environmental

meeting once additional comments are received from the Township Engineer,
the Simcoe County District Health Unit and amendments accommodated within
