Wednesday, May 1, 2002 TIME: 6:30 p.m. THIRTY-SEVENTH MEETING 2000-2003 COUNCIL Present: Mayor J. Neil Craig assumed the chair and called the meeting to order, followed by a moment of reflection. 3. ADOPTION OF AGENDA: Motion No. 1 Moved by Fountain, Seconded by Hughes Be it resolved that the agenda for the Special Council Meeting dated Wednesday, May 1,2002 be adopted as printed and circulated. . Carried. 4. "DISCLOSURE OF PECUNIARY INTEREST AND THE GENERAL NATURE THEREOF -IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACT" \ , Nil. . 5. NOMINATIONS OF CANDIDATES TO THE VACANT POSITION OF DEPUTY MAYOR Motion No.2 Moved by Hughes, Seconded by Fountain Be it resolved that nominations be called for the position of Deputy Mayor of the Township of Oro-Medonte. Carried. Motion No.3 Moved by Marshall, Seconded by Hughes Be it resolved that nominations for the position of Deputy Mayor of the Township of Oro-Medonte be closed. Carried. Motion No.4 . Moved by Marshall, Seconded by Fountain Be it resolved that the following person(s), having accepted the nomination(s), be declared as candidate(s) for the position of Deputy Mayor of the Township of Oro- Medonte. Walter Dickie Harry Hughes Ralph Hough Carried. 6. VOTE A vote was taken, and the results were as follows; Walter Dickie - 4 Harry Hughes - 1 Ralph Hough - 1 . 2 t 7. APPOINTMENT OF DEPUTY MAYOR . . . Motion No.5 Moved by Fountain, Seconded by Marshall Be it resolved that Councillor Walter Dickie, having received the votes of more than one-half of the number of all members of Council be appointed to the position of Deputy Mayor of the Township of Oro-Medonte. Carried. 8. RESIGNATION OF FORMER COUNCIL SEAT BY APPOINTEE TO THE POSITION OF DEPUTY MAYOR Motion No.6 Moved by Fountain, Seconded by Hough Be it resolved that Council does accept the resignation of Councillor Walter Dickie from his position of Councillor - Ward 1 on the Council of the Township of Oro- Medonte. Carried . Deputy Mayor Walter Dickie was sworn in. 9. DECLARATION OF VACANT SEAT Motion No. 7 Moved by Dickie, Seconded by Hough Be it resolved that the position of Ward 1 Councillor of the Council of the Township of Oro-Medonte be declared vacant. Carried. 10. DATE, TIME AND PLACE OF NEXT SPECIALCOUNCIL MEETING FOR THE PURPOSE OF APPOINTMENT TO FILL A VACANCY OF A WARD COUNCIL SEAT Motion No.8 Moved by Hough, Seconded by Dickie . Be it resolved that a Special meeting of Council be called on May 15, 2002 at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of appointment to the vacant position of Ward 1 Councillor. Carried. 3 11. CONFIRMATION BY-LAW NO. 2002-049 Motion No.9 Moved by Hough, Seconded by Dickie Be it resolved that a by-law to confirm the proceedings of the Special Council meeting held on Wednesday, May 1, 2002 be introduced and read a first and second time and numbered By-law No. 2002-049. Carried. That By-law No. 2002-049 be read a third time and finally passed, be engrossed by the Clerk, signed and sealed by the Mayor. Carried. 12.
