Attendance: Jadeen Henderson, Bruce Wiggins, Margaret Prewer, Allan Howard (chair},
Sheila Kirkland (secretary), and Geoffrey Booth (vice-chair)
Minutes of July meeting. Moved by Brace and seconded by Margaret that the tt~-inutes be
approved as circulated. Passed.
Old Business:
+ Margarefs list of OMHA articles stored .~t the Township Office is ongoing and
not completed as yet. We still need to «cuerate a report for the Parks & Rec.
consultant although the exact date necdcd is not known.
• There is more space now at the Old Town Hall for storage
• We need to move the display/dividers that Guthrie Church has stored. Discussed
keeping them at the Old Town Hall. They need to be labeled as History
Association property. Bruce and Allan will look at moving them next week,
: Allan will contact Shawn Binns about the Guthrie arena storage and options for
moving the articles, as we understand this is doing to occur in the future.
• Moved by Jadeen that the original council table and chairs be plaqued, as well as
the voting box that is at the Old Town Hall. Further the background supporting
documentation for each article be compiled and kept for posterity. Further that 5~
plaques including identification numbers stating Property of Oro-Medonte History
Association be bought for this purpose. Seconded by Bruce. PASSED Bnuce will
price them.
• Jadeen suggest that we also imprint a number on the underside of each bench at
the Orc> African Church. Bruce will check for the tool to do this and Jadeen will
check with Bob. Bn~ce will purchase if no one has one-bill to the Association.
• Margaret has two quotes for ground radar. 1 s`: quote Multiview Locates Inc.- Mr.
John E. Scafe $3395 and 2"`r: quote Radarscan -Mr. Ken Blair $550(1. Shawn
asked for references and only Multiview gave references. The Township will give
the okay to go ahead when they are checked out. Margaret will give the size of the
lot including the bush to the company chosen.
• Margaret will take the map of the archeological sites to the Planning Department.

Library Board who is looking at increasing their research section of their libr~iry.
This was discussed and maybe considered in the future provided there are proper
rules and regulations for loaning a display and return policies.
• United Way email updating their request for proposals that we do not qualify for.
• Email re: church tour from Margaret to Allan. Allan will send his belated regrets.
• Email re: Article about a l~tational Historic Site Conservator who restores historic
buildings whose number is included in the article and who may be able to look at
the interior of the African Church for restoration as the white wash needs redone
and some chinking. Geoffrey will contact for a quote on this. (Of note in the past

befr~rc it was a NHS.j
• Email from Geoff re: frame from the Red Cross Certificate.
• Request from 1`ourism Ontario for information on torGrist sites.
s i~act sheet from Heritage Canaria for funding. We may not qualify. Geoff will
investigate.
• ~IHSA 2t~~S is October 15----17 being held at Packwood NHS, Oshawa. "Where
have all the visitors gone" is the theme. It is a 10~' Anniversary for the I'~IHSA. We
have yet to receive the registration forms with more details.
• Email re: request for properties of interest along Hwy. 11 from Lindsay Popert,
Archaeological Services in Toronto Margaret sent her a list and she will try to
send us a copy of the completed report.
• Email re: the 160`x' Anniversary of the Oro African Church is next year-what are
wr planning to do to celebrate? Will discuss over the next few meetings for
su ~ ~~ ~~ ~ t i onslplans.
New Business
s Articles donated by Hawkestone United Church received. Ascension
documentation included.
• Heritage Day report: 41 antique tractors participated despite the weather, the meal
was a success and already people are asking about next year. The Officers of the
OPP did a great job. The participants were very pleased about the pictures they
received that Allan did. Jadeen suggests that we keep a copy for our records and
Allan can do that.
• Oro Fall Fair September 13-we will put up the tent and put out the displays. We
will move our display closer to the track as the antique car show is growing. This
will give us better exposure for foot traffic.
• Margaret received a request from someone Looking at the Bass Lake area to
compile a history. She directed him to the Simcae County Archives and the Land
Registry office as resources.
Next meeting is September 22 at 6pm at the Township Offices.
