I~ox 10~ C}ro, Gintario LOL 2~.0 Re: amendment to Zoning Fay-Law Lot 56, Gazzcessiazz ? I'.002~0~2 P~SGE Q~IE'? It is my understanding tb.at the l~~inistry of Svatural F~.esaurces has recently re-stuve_yed the wetlazzd boundary for the Glass 1 wetland designation on this property. V4Tbale the 1linistry has chosen to exclude this specific area frazz~ the designation, it should be noted that doing such creates a breal~ within the larger tivetland cc~nzplez~ area and possibly could lead to wildlife fatality. GTiven the area's location tivithin the ~turget~n. l2.ivet wtetland cazxtplex and its proximity to the Copeland Forest, this area is currently used as ~ wildlife crossing. It is extensively used by deer, wild turl~eys azz.d even bears. lr?. the event that this area ~~as eves developed, wildlife would be forced to cross furthex cast along lilt. fit, Louis Road at the "wet hills" (just below the 2°d eoncessic~zx). Given the steepness afthis hill, i.t would definitely pose a prablen~ for drivers cresting the hill az~d caznin,g upon an anirrza.l. Airea.dy, there are nurrzeraus fatalities at the bottotrz crfthe hill. Accidents in the zxziddle of the hill would have repercussiozzs not only for the attizxzals but far the drivers. Also, tivhile the current area is drier than other areas iza the vicinity, it is very close to the graund~vater table and ilxzzxzediately adjacent to seepage areas alotzg the hill. It is lil~.ely fihat not many ~retland species are found in this axea due to tillage of the land many, many years dga. Aver tizrze, however, this area would succeed as wetland species would move in. tt%l-~ile I appreciate and respect tl~ze landowners request to have this property rezoned, I t~i.ght t~nly caution you with respect to the tow-nship's need to ensure its natural hez-itage lands are protected. In particular, over 70°}b of t~ntario's wetlands have been lost due to develapznent and agriculture. ~s we bite away at these significant habitats we will lose our al~ili.ty to clean water, presez~~e wildlife habitat and reduce flooding. Thanl~ you far the opportunity to .respan.d to this zoning azxaendzxaezat. 1Zegards, izxz Gavirae
