Councillor Coutanche called the meeting to order at 7.15 p.m.
1. Welcome new members:
He welcomed Kelly and Phillip to the group and introduced the members of Council and
asked each resident member to give a brief profile. He then asked Ke11y and Phillip to tell
the group a little about themselves.
Kelly indicated that she was from the Carley area, she is chair of the Carley Hall Board
and has a fitness studio.
Phillip stated that he was from Hobart and had recently graduated from a Recreation &
leisure course.
2. Adoption of Agenda

a. Qro-Medonte Budget & Rec-Tech Items
Shawn informed the Group that the budget consists of several areas covered by the
Recreation & Community Services department. He then began the PPP

Community Services 2008 Budget Overview given by Shawn Binns be received.

b. Sweetwater Park
Shawn infarrned that the project would be going to tender in the near future.

c. Line 4 Park
The concept design now includes the trail which is linear. We are looking at making it
a fitness trail with 10 cardio stations. The trail gets a significant amount of use and
the fitness stations were approved in the 2008 budget. Mr. Lohuaru had donated
X25,000 towards the park.
Shawn indicated that there is interest from resident for a permanent rink
and they will be fundraising to that end. Council has not yet approved the rink.
It was suggested that we should look into Pit Rehabilitation as we may get revenue
from the aggregate companies. Also, we should check with Qro Hills residents to see
if they want to joint the fitness trail through abutting property.

d. Sports Groups Committee
Shawn informed the Group that the representatives of the sports organizations
attending the meetings were enthusiastic. Their priority was to develop a website
where each association would have a page for information and registration. The
Recreation & Community Services department could tie in also.
Shawn also indicated that he had spoken to John Pugsley of Trillium regarding a
grant for the software.
This Committee will meet again on April 24`".

6. New Business:
a. Implications of Sugarbush IPA
Councillor Coutanche read a letter received by Council and showed a map indicating
parkland in the Sugarbush area. He indicated this was for information only and that
this Group wilt not be required to make any decisions on the matter.
b. Soccer City
Shawn gave information regarding Angelo Orsi's application to Oro-Medonte, Severn
and Orillia regarding the creation of a regional soccer complex in Severn. Laurentian
University, Georgian College and Soccer Group representatives have attended two
meetings and are interested. Shawn indicated that he would keep the Group updated
on the progress.

c. Oro-Medonte 77's
Shawn informed the Group that we were approached by an individual who wanted to
bring Junior B hockey teams back to Oro-Medonte. Oro Minor Hockey is very
supportive and will be working with us to make ice time available to them for the
2008109 season. We will be meeting with Mark Cardiff next week to see i# we can
accommodate their needs.
It was suggested that SevernlColdwaterynuth should be tapped to ensure the league
is sustainable.

d. Public Information Sessions
The Group was informed by Shawn that we wanted to get information out to all
earners of the municipality to inform residents of same of the services we provide,
focusing on programs. We will be putting a survey on our website. Shawn requested
members of the Graup to participate in the sessions. The following members
volunteered to help at the Hated locations:
