Meeting called to order at 7:30 p.m.
Errors/omissions/adoption of 11 January minutes: NONE
MOTION: That 11 January minutes be accepted as circulated. MOVED by Bruce,
SECONDED by Jadeen. PASSED.
Business ArisinglUpdates:
. Medonte Book Presentations - Geoff reported that emails have been sent to all
councilors and responses are forthcoming. Presentations are planned for the week
of Feb. 14-18. Discussion that Rogers Cable be contacted re: presentation at W.
R. Best Public School. Geoff will arrange.
. PowerPoint presentation 20 February at Simcoe County Museum (2 p.m.?). Allan
and Geoff should be able to attend. Allan and Jadeen will meet to record
voiceover for the slides.
. Doors Open Huronia - Sheila has forwarded requested information. No new
correspondence to date.
. Kith 'n' Kin - Sheila has located some original notes and information. Jadeen
forwarded new family information for future updates. Discussion ensued as to
how book will be reprinted. Jadeen also reported that a copy of Kith 'n' Kin in
good condition is available, at an approximate cost of $30. MOVED by Bruce,
SECONDED by Allan, that Jadeen purchase this copy at this approximate cost.
PASSED.
. Collingwood Museum Trip - discussion deferred until May.
. Road Rally - Bruce circulated plans for the event, to be held 28 May at the
Guthrie Arena. Discussion ensued about sponsorship, volunteer duties and
logistics. Tickets will be priced at $30. Sheila reported that the Township's
Spring Parks and Rec brochure can be used to advertise the event. Other possible
places might include Georgian College Capsule, North Simcoe News, The
Hawkster and various Township publications.
. Oro African Church - Hours of operation will be Sundays in July and August,
from 1-4 p.m.
. Photo albums - deferred to future meeting.
. Black History events - J adeen reported that there is no information available at
this time regarding this matter.

New Business/Correspondence
. Sheila reported that the Spring water Heritage Committee has invited us to attend a
tour of the HiIlsdale Jail on either 24 May, or 28 June. Decided to attend 24 May.
. Sheila also reported that she received a call from the Ontario Provincial Police,
Orillia GHQ, to give a talk on Black history. She will contact re: specifics of talk
and report back.
. Geoff circulated receipt-based Association expenditures statement for 2004.
Discussion ensued about expenses and income not on the list. Sheila wiil contact
Township on this matter.
