Old Business
Presented a letter from the Township Clerk, following a
joint meeting of Oro and Medonte Councils, on September 20,1993,
at which time the Logo submitted by this Committee and Medonte
Historical Society. After a lengthy discussion the joint Councils
had suggested that another option should maybe be considered.
Although the retaining of the name Oro-Medonte recognized the rich
historic nature of the Townships, the members of Council were of
the opioion that the new logo should perhaps reflect a combination
of the past, present and future, and that the sole use of symbals
representing agriculture, may not be appropriate in the planning
to prepare local government well into the 21st Century. The letter
mentions that the Townships provide many additional opportunities
for its residents, such as ski resort and golfing facilities, and
its w8terfront along the shores of Lake Simcoe and Bass Lake, which
attracts fishing, boating, swimming. In addition Industrial and
Commercial components are evident and actively pursued. Some possibly
as a result of the recently constructed Oro-Barrie-Orillia Airport.
The leLter also suggests that the abbreviated form for Amalgamation
(Amal) sho'lld be replaced with "EST" for established or "Inc." for
Incorporated would be more appropriate. Letter also indicates that
the Clerk would be prepared to discuss the foregoing with the
Committee or invite the Committee to meet with Council.
As result of this letter the Chairperson had prepared some art work
showing some different symbals that could be used to represent the
past, present and possibly could show continuance to the fut~e.
The Art work for the aforementioned was presented to the Comm1ttee
consideration discussion.

As result of the discussion and suggestions the following action
was taken:
It was moved by Jadeen Henderson and seconded by Earl
Robertson that the Chairperson and the Secretary attend a
meeting with Council and the Clerk regcrding the request
for a fourth proposed logo and present the suggested Art
work for the Loge as agreed to by the Committee.
New Business
Presented a copy of letter from Joanna McEwen to Oro Council with
respect to the two signs placed near the intersection of Line 9
on County Road #11. The signs read "KnoE Corner" facing traffic
travelling east and west on the County Road. The letter asks
Council who authdllzed the signs reading "Knox Corner" and the
erection of the signs on theCounty Road. This intersection has
never been known as Knox. Possibly the Knox Church Corner could
be applied to one portion of the intersection (north west corner
of the intersection) Letter further suggests that if a name were
to be applied to the intersection, it could be Gailbraith or
even Nevis.
The Committee members concur with the content of the letter.
Also presented a letter from Joanna McEwen forwarding and account
for payment to Twin Lakes Secondary School for costs arising from
thè project of transferring Slides to Video. The costs being for
special parts for slide transference, Lab. time, film and studio
time. The total cost being $lOO.
It was moved by Tim Crawford and seconded by Bernice Hickling
that the account as presented, along with the explanation of same
by Joanna McEwen be received as an account from Twin Lakes Secondary
School for costs involved in the transfer of slides to video. The
costs being for special parts for slide transference, Lab. time,
film and Studeo time for a total of ~lOO. And that the account
be accepted accepted and forwarded to the Township of Oro Treasurer
for Council approval and payment be forwaråed from the Township of
