Secretary reported that when notifieð oy R.B. Trophies
that the Bronze Plaque in memory cf ~arian keith lAuthor
was now completed, he had approached the Treasurer, henry
Sander with regard to ottaining a cheque to pay for same.

The Secretary advisef that as requested by 01'0 Council
4 members of the History Committee h~d attended a meeting
of Oro Council held on September 17, 1990, at which the
Chairperson had ;resented t~e Reeve, Robert Drury, with
the Chain of Office, the design of which had been prepar
submitted to Council of 01'0 for approval. Upon ap:r;roval
tee Council d the Cha :r;repareQ. Four members the
Committee attending the meeting were: Loreen (Rice: Lucas,
Howard Campbe , Rarl Robertson and Eenry Neufeld.
Also that at the Co~ittee of Council Meeting held
next weeK, September 24, 1990, the same members of

(a) Fresen~ed letter from the Adminis~r~tcr/Cler~ advising
that as instruc~ed by Oro ~o~ncil, the Submission of tee
History Committee re: ~ounty Restructuring, had been for-
warded ~o 'Narden, Donald Bell, ChairIIafl of the count~' Study
~omITlittee. Also that the letter of Submission be forwarded
to the Barrie and Orillia newspapers.
(~) ~opy of the Submission has been filed for future reference.
(0) Fresented copies of le~ters forwarded to the Rugby W.I.;
~lowes ~.I. and Harvie Settlement W.T., advising that the
Bronze Pliique in Memory of Marian Keith has now been comp~
leted and will be mounted on a suitable stone at the north
end of the Rugby Community Hall and that they will be noti-
fied of the unveilling of the plaque. And, requesting that
they now forward their cheques of financial assistance, as
proposed earlier, for the project, to the Township of Oro
Treasurer. Also expressing the c;onunittee's appreciation
for their participation and financial contribution.
It was moved oy Walter Hutchinson and seconded by Neil McMiven
that the correspondence as received and forwarded, and presented,
be received and filed for reference.
Old and unfinished Business
(a) Report of Ad Hoc Committee re: mounting of kachine Guns
in the Town Hall - by Walter Hutchinson, advising that
the brackets to mount same are now comlleted.
It was left that 'iVal ter Hutchinson obtain all necessary
material for the mounting and that he contact other
members when he is ready to mount same.
(b) Report of Chairperson with respect to the Book Case to
be placed in the Foyer of the Township Administration
Building and presented Drawing/Plans for same which had
Deen prepared by Jim Rice.
The Plans were left with Walter Hutchinson for the
purpose of constructing the Book Case.
(c) Report of the Ad Hoc Committee on the progress of the
Map showing the "Hills of Orolt and names to whic h they
have been referred to, and/or are still known by.
No report of further progress - left that the committee
pursue the project and present same for consideration.
It was moved by Howard Ciim:çbell and seconded by Neil McNivem
that members of the Committee arrange to have the stone
proposed for the mounting of the Plaque for Marian Keith,
placed at the north end of the Rugby Community Hall and that
Sanderson Monument be approached to mount the Flaque on the
stone. And that arrangements be made to have the "Unveilling
of the Plaque" in Spring at a ~ime suitable to the Council
of the Township of Oro. And that the Women's Institutes that
partie ~teè De notified of the date and time, as well as

New Business
(a) The Chairperson suggested th&t the Committee give
consideration to appointing a younger person as member
of the History Committee and proposed that Sandra
Shelswell added to the ~omITlittee, as an interested
person in history and the Township. Should 01'0 ~ouncil
be agreeable it would mean that the History Committee
wo~ld have another generation added to its members.
After consideration it was moved by Earl Robertson and
seconded by Neil McNiven that the History Committee re-
commend to Oro ~o~~cil that Sandra Shelswell be added as
a member of the Township of Oro History committee, since
she is interested in 'the, history of the Township of Oro
and that her appointment would be adding another generation
to the Township History ~ommittee. And further, the
Committee recommend that Oro Council approach (Mrs) S~~dra
Shelswell as to whether she would be interested in the
apl-ointment.
No other new business was Drought forward at this time.
Budget for 1991
A proposed Budget for 1991 was:rQ1J,ght before the vommittee
fer discussion. It was s1J,ggested that the Budget be considered
bY~ouncil as a two year Budget since no request for one had
been presented to CounciL for 1990.
After considerable discussion and suggesti::;ns, it was moved by
Howard Campbell and seconded by Walter Hutchinson that the
History ComlúÍ ttee recollimend tr.at tte Township of Oro include
in the 1991 Budget an affiount of $2C)00 for tte Township of Oro

Earl Robertson that the meeting adjourn at 9:05 p.m. Next
