COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL MEETING
7:00 P.M. - WEDNESDAY, MAY 29, 1985 - COUNCIL CHAMBERS

The meeting commenced at 7:04, Reeve Davie Chairman
No declarations of conflict of interest were made.
Appointments
- FIRE DEPARTMENT
Ron Young, Fire Chief and Paul Eenhoorn, Deputy Fire Chief reviewed their list of recommendations
prepared April 1, 1985. The Fire Chief took direction to arrange a "Fire Route Tour", to be
attended by all Council members, on a convenient Saturday. The Committee inquired as to whether
the District Chiefs had been notified that the Fire Chief has assumed full-time duties. Mr.
Bernie Walsh, Ontario Fire Marshall's Office, to be invited to the meeting to be held June 5,
1985.
- HURONIA TOURIST ASSOCIATION
Mr. D. Little of the Huronia Tourist Association was present to review the Association's activities,
particularly with reference to Oro Township. The possibility of a "Colour Tour" through Oro and
Medonte Townships was discussed. The Committee advised of their concern with the limited period
of time provided to arrange for advertisement in the Association's brochure. Mr. Little to be
invited to a meeting in the latter part of 1985 to discuss advertising for the Association's
1986 brochure.

8:45 P.M. - DELEGATION RE: BARRIE SPEEDWAY - LOT 22, CONCESSION 8
A delegation consisting of Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Weatherby, Mrs. McIntyre and Mr. Rievie presented
a letter addressed to Council and spoke of their concerns with respect to activities at the
Barrie Speedway Race Track, particularly with reference to noise, overnight camping, vandalism,
special events and litter. A suggestion was made that the Race Track Operator advise spectators
to utilize the 8th Line Ridge Road - 9th Line/Overpass route when exiting the Race Track.

That a resolution be prepared for Council's consideration to effect the proposed land transfer's
adjacent to the Hawkestone Community Hall property.

That the notice of motion concerning Fire Department operations presented at the May 23, 1985
Council meeting be re-presented at the June 3, 1985 Council meeting for consideration.
3.
Student Reeve Program
That Deputy-Reeve McEwen reVIse the program agenda for Tuesday, October 15, 1985 Student Tour.
Oro Block Parents

That the request for a grant for purchase of signs be agreed to in principle on receipt of
further information as to where and when signs are to be erected.

That a resolution be prepared for Council's consideration to initiate investigation of Site Plan
Controls with respect to the Oro Sanitation Services operation of sewage transfer lagoons.

Appointment 8y-Iaw - Building Inspector
That the Draft By-law prepared by the Administrator be presented for consideration by Council,
having been found satisfactory on review by the Committee.

Road Staff

That employee, Allan Lapp, be re-assi9ned from Parks & Recreation duties to the Roads Dept.
10. Communit
Halls - Retrofit Grants
That Staff forward the budgetted "Retrofit" grants to the Community Halls.
Reports
Councillor Drury reported on Waste Disposal Site Operations regarding the importation of
refuse from "outside" sources.
Reeve Davie reported on Humane Society and sewage transfer lagoon concerns.
The Administrator reported on and gave recommendations concerning By-laws to appoint a Tax
Collector and Lottery Licensin9 Officer, and with re9ard to the Library Board.
