COUNCIL CHAMBERS - FEBRUARY 8, 1984
COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL MEETING
Committee of Council met this evening at 7:00 p.m. with the following members present:

The Reeve opened the meeting at 7;00 p.m.
The following items had been referred to Committee of Council:
1 )
By-Law Enforcement Officer reports on:
a) Dale Plant - Lot 10, Concession 9 - demolition of second residence according to agreement
with the Township of Oro.
Committee of Council recommend that the matter be referred to Township Solicitor for action.
b)
Donald McDougall re: Application for a Building Permit for building being used as
Body Shop.
And storage building, according to Building Permit applied for and issued, now being
used for Body Shop.
c)
Committee of Council recommend that the matter be referred to Township Solicitor for action.
2) Letter from Bill Mole - request for funding for fund raising project called "Pennies for
Barara" Walk from Rainy River to Toronto and passing through the Township of Oro on Hwy. 11.
Committee of Council recommend that Mr. Bill Mole be advised that since Oro Council are prepared
to make a donation when Bill Mole passes through the Township of Oro on Hwy. 11 and that the
letter with respect to fund raising project will be referred to Oro and District Lions Club
for their attention.
3) Letter from Georgian College with respect to Computer Co-Op Students - presently enrolled
In Computer Programmer/Analyst Co-Op Program.
4) Ministry of Municipal Affairs ~ Housing announcing continued Provincial Program - Involvement
in Municipal Administration.
Committee of Council recommend that no action be taken on the program in 1984 as listed in items
3 and 4.

Arena Manager - Salary for Ice Season and Off Season.

Committee of Council recommend that from the letter received from Cecil Phillips, dated Feb.
6, 1984, in response to Township letter of February 2, 1984, it would appear that Oro Council
would have to deduce from the letter that Cecil Phillips is not prepared to accept Council's
offer and accordingly, it would appear that once the contract for Ice-in, Ice-out in May, his
employment would terminate.
7)
Municipal Facility Study.
a) Letter from W. Millett Salter
Committee of Council recommend that Council budget for up to $3,000.00 in 1984 for extended
office space study and/or alternate site for same.
8) News Release by Concerned Citizens for Water Level Management re: Water Level of Lake Simcoe
and flooding of Black River, Severn River and Sparrow Lake.
Committee of Council recommend that no action be taken at this time and same be filed for reference.
9)
Response to County Solid Waste Management Study.
Committee of Council recommend response to questionnaire as follows:

Report adequately analizes the existing sites but does not give any deduction.

Suggestions for consideration of programming Student Reeve of the Month
alternate student from each of the Public Schools.

Committee of Council recommend that the suggestion of one of the Principals of the Oro Public
Schools with respect to a Student Reeve of the Month, Oro Council would be prepared to partici-
pate in such a program, should the remaining 3 Public School Principals of Oro be agreeable
to such a suggestion, Council could probably program 4 part days per month for each student,
for up to 4 students in 1984 on the basis of one student from each of the Public Schools in
the Township of Ora.

Fire Committee - consideration of report from Chairman of the Committee as result of Committee
Preliminary Budget Meeting.
Chairman, Fire Committee presented the following written Reports:
a) Synopsis of 1983 Fire Committee Reports.
b) Radio Telephone Procedure
The matter ~as discussed at great length and it was left that the
