LŒETING - October 11,1994
The Township of Oro-Medonte History Committee met this evening in
Committee Room at the Townshir Administration Building in accordance
Hith the schedule set out at a meeting held on April 2,1994.
The following members were present:

The meeting was opened by the Chairman at 7:35 p.m.
The Minutes of the last regurlar meeting held on
September 13, 1994, were on motion of Loreen (Rice)
Lucas and Jadeen Henderson adopted as printed and
received. All members having received a copy of same.

Several verbal communications were brought to the
attention of the meeting.

of the Committee expressed their appreciation of the
of meetings and it was moved by Walter Hutchinson and
by Earl Robertson that the members of the Committee

Old and Unfinished Business
(a)
Report by the Chairman with respect to the letter from the
Ontario Geneological Society, presented at the last regular
meeting regarding participation to submit a nême to be included
in their next publication of "Who~,s Who in Ontario"
From the report of the Chairman who had made further enquires
regarding the request, it was le~t that the letter be filed
for reference with no action taken at this time.
(b) Report by the Chairman and members of the Committee with regard
to the participation by the Committee at the Oro Fair.
- It whould be noted that the Committe appreciated the use of
the Motor Home made available to the Committee by Dubeau
Auctions, through Loreen (Rice) Lucas. This made a very
appropriate unit for the display of the Townships Publications
and the display of antiques made available by Earl Robertson,
Walter Hutchinson and Jadeen Henderson, such as tools of
the past and certain agricultural equipment as well 2S many
household items. The avvning on the motor home made a very
suitable display ~re@.
- a great deal of interest was shown by both young and old.
- It was suggested that ~ letter be forwarded to the Fresident
the 0 icultural Society expressing e ion for the
area allotted to Commi e on the grounds this year. And

the CoIT~ittee commend the Oro Fair Board for the improvements
of the Fair grounds, layout and parking area, etc.
New Business

Brought'for discussion wasthe proposal for the publishing
another book as suggested at the last meeting by the Chairman.
- the þublication would consisit of photographs on hand, stories
of the olden days, enecdotes ami saying 2nd other historic
material on hand. Loreen (Rice) Lucas is presently preparing
for a News Pa~ep a series of short stories mf memories of
her younger days as well as community stories in the Past.
This was again left for further thought and consideration.
The Committee members were again reminded to meet at the
home of Earl Robertson to host the Simcoe County HistorJcal
Society for a tour and view of the Antiques that he ha8L,displayed
in several buildings.

Loreen (Rice) Lucas advised that the Video prepared by CBC
of places in Oro as commented to by Loreen Lucas and Joanna
McEwen had bèen shown to the Craighurst W.I. by her and that
she would be showing the same Video to the Rugby W.I. She
also advised the Video of the African Church Memorial Service
in June of this year had been shown to the Mitchell Square W.I.
There being no further business to be brought forward it was
moved by Earl Robertson that the meeting adjourn at 8:35 p.m.,
to meet again at Earl Roþertson's place at lO a.m. tomorrow
and again for a regular meeting on October 8,1994.
