February 19, 1996
The Township of Oro-lliedonte History Committee met tr~is evening at
the Township Administration Building in the Committee Room, in
accordance with the resolution fc.ssed &.t the Committee meeting held
on Monday January 3,1996, to meet on ffionday, February 12,1996,
unless otLerwise notified. All members that could be contacted by
telephone were advised that the meeting h¿d been postponed to
Monday, February 19, 19960

çuotes listing of early settlers in the County publication

settlers in 01'0 Township before 1837. Two of the four names
included in the list, appear as owners of property on the lots
as shown cn the Township map included in "Kith 'N' Kinlll,

Agenda of the last Council meeting - no re~ort was available
for this meeting.
The Chairperson for the meeting advised th~t Tim Crawford had
forwarded a letter of support to thE. CollingviOod Blacks ,vi th
res:¡:..ect keeping the name of a Road in Grey CoUlty as Negro Road.

The matter of the History Committee not being notified or
invited to the Opening of the new a¿dition to the Township
A~ministration Building was brought before the CoWlliittee
for discussion. It was mentioned th~t the opening of the
Addition WaS as much history as the opening of the Administration
Building originally.
Walter Hutchinson requested that Congratulations be extended
to Loreen (Rice) Lucas on thE compl:tion and publication of
her Bock, entitled lIoutr.l.ouses and Apple Pie". All lLembErs of
the Committee concurred and e::tendeè. tl.l.eir congratulations.
A copy of the Book was presented for view by Loreen (Rice)
Lucas. All members loresent asked to have the privil ge to
~urchase copy of the book after the meeting.

(i) the matter of a~pointing a 2nd V~ce Chairman as
suggested at the last meeting, this person be
a member frOL the former Nedonte Township. This
will again be presented to the ne~t meeting.
