MINUTES OF MEETING
OF ORO-MEDONTE mSTORY COMMITTEE
FOR NOY. 17,1998
In attendance: Tim Crawford (chair), Eunice Johnston, Earl Robertson, George Monkman
Minutes of last meeting:
Corrections 3Aiii. Change Earl to Walter

Motion by Eunice Johnston to accept as corrected, seconded by Earl Robertson. Carried.
CD-ROM of slides: Tim suggested sending the slides to a company in Seattle Washington, that
he uses. They charge about 1/3 the amount required to have Black's camera do the work.
Motion: by Tim Crawford that he send the slides to Seattle Washington Film Works by UPS.
Seconded by George Monkman. Carried.
Photographs: This will save $1000.00 of the money budgeted for this project. There are
photographs that could be placed on CD-ROM also.
Motion by Tim Crawford that we proceed with putting the photographs on a computer medium.
Seconded by Earl Robertson. Carried.
Scanner: Tim will meet with Linda Achen to discus the purchase of a scanner for this purpose.
It could also be used to scan documents and photos stored in the filing cabinet, for use in the
millennium book.
Files: Loreen Lucas and Darlene Shoebridge have completed the sorting, cataloguing and filing
of two drawers in the vault. An index is also in the front ofthe top drawer. Committee members
visited the vault and were delighted with the results of their hard work. Well done, ladies.
Millennium Book Project: Tim purchased a trophy and plaque to encourage schools to become
involved in the project. Tim and Eunice will visit schools in the new year.
Web site: In appreciation of work done by members of this committee who helped him with
family research, Steve Gilchrist of Seattle Washington has offered to produce a web-site for us.
Motion: by George Monkman that we authorize Mr. Gilchrist to set up the web-site on
condition there is no cost. Seconded by Eunice Johnston. Carried.
Gift: of some old photographs that belonged to the last Angus Ross of Shanty Bay. Mr. Ross
was a teacher at Barrie Central. These will be placed in files.
Black church anniversary: Tim has purchased a receipt book to be used for pre-sales of plates.
Jadeen and Walter have taken photos of the building for the plate.
Walter opened the building for the car rally as requested but felt it
was a waste oftirne as people were not interested. He also spoke to women's group in Minesing.
Jadeen loaned a photo album containing items she has collected
on the Black Church. Tim and Jadeen will work on a book forthe anniversary.
Invitation to the Township Staff Christmas Party on Dec. 12 at 8 pm to be held in
Community Arena in Guthrie.
