COMMITTEE OF COUNCIL MEETING
Council Chambers - August 26, 1982
Committee of Council met this evening with the following members present:

Deputy Reeve Stephen Davie opened the meeting at 8:00 p.m. in the absence
of Reeve R.S. Arbour, who was late arriving.
Appointments
Messrs. Nelson and George Robertson were present at 8:00 p.m. at request
of Committee of Council as result of certain concerns expressed regarding
the proposal of Tom Kinn to bring the Road Allowance between Concessions
11 & 12, from Scotdale Drive North to entrance into his lot, namely E
pt. Lot 9, Concession 11.
Nelson Robertson expressed the following concerned:
-Distance of road to be brought to standards.
-Will more trees be cleared than necessary to build the road.
-What time limit is set for this work and what bonding assurance.
-Agreement should be entered into with the Township for the work setting
out requirements, exact distance and time to complete work.
Robert Barber was present at 8:35 p.m. at request of Park Committee Chair-
man regarding his letter to Council of August 17, 1982.
In the discussion he was asked what changes could be made for the caretaker
at Oro Memorial Park.

Park to be open less hours
Time off during the week
- Increase in remuneration and percentage of ~te receipts.
- Limited time to issue Park Admission Stickers for ratepayers.
He was advised that matter of advertising for caretaker for next season
would be considered later this fall.
Robert Morrison was not present since he could not be contacted by telephone
nor by the By-Law Enforcement Officer.

Park Committee
Councillor Halfacre presented a written report of observations at Oro
Memorial Park due to water tests taken after the installation of water
fountains.
Roads Committee
Deputy Reeve Davie, advised that the top soil is presently being put on
the shoulders of Lakeshore Road and that construction is to commence on
the two miles of 15/16 Side Road.
Waste Disposal Committee
Councillor Johnson brought several matters to the attention of Committee
of Council members-
--Request had been received by persons wanting to use the W.D.S. on days
the Site is closed.
-Telephone has been of some help to ratepayers using the site.
-Deputy-Reeve Davie suggested heating the office at the site by electric
heat in place of oil space heater.
-Matter of stumps and demolished buildings being brought to the site was
considered with suggested proposals for the future.
Other Matters
The matter of Nuclear Disarmament or the ballot was discussed following
the ROMA resolution at the Conference.
It was recommended that the Township of Oro uphold the A.M.O. recently
adopted position not to place the Nuclear Disarmament on the ballot.
It was recommended that the Township or Oro erect a steel flag pole at
the Oro Township Fairgrounds, to commemorate the 130th Oro World's Fair
and repatriation of the Constitution.
Deputy Reeve Davie to approach several contractors (bricklayers) regarding
the repair of the three gate posts at the entrance to Oro Town Hall and
Fairgrounds.
