TOWNSHIP OF MEDONTE
BY-LAW # 1412
BEING A BY-LAW RESPECTING NOISES WITHIN THE TOWNSHIP OF MEDONTE
WHEREAS it is deemed expedient to prohibit certain noises and
regulate certain other noises within the Township of Medonte;
THEREFORE Council of the Corporation of the Township of Medonte
enacts as follows:
1) That between the hours shown in part two (2) of this By-Law no
person or group of persons shall cause or make, or cause of
allow any domestic pets or animals or thing to make, and no
person being in lawful occupation of any premises shall permit
any other person or group of persons or thing to cause or make
any such noise as listed in part two (2) of this By-Law.
2) Ringing of bells, gongs, blowing
of horns

11:00 P.M. to 6:00 A.M.
Detonation of Fireworks or
explosive devices.

anytime ( unless permission
from Township )
The discharge of firearms, not
for the purpose of hunting, which
creates a nuisance to surrounding
property.

persistant barking, whining,
howling or other similiar
persistant noise making of any
domestic pet.

Racing of any motorized conveyance
other than in a racing event
regulated by law

The operation of a motor vehicle
in such a way that the tires
squeal.

The operation of any combustion
engine without an effective
exhaust muffling device in good
working order and in constant
operation.

3) Causing any of the above noises shall not be deemed to be an offence
under this by-law if it is necessary to cause or make any such noise
for the prupose of preventing injgry to persons, or loss of or damage
to property.
4) Notwithstanding Section, this by-law shall not apply to any noise
caused by or created due to any agricultural endeavor or operations.
5) Every person who contravens any of the provisions of this By-Law is
guilty of any offence and shall, upon conviction thereof, forfeit
and pay a penalty of not more than $1,000.00 for a first offence,
not more than $1,000.00 for a second or subsequent offence, exclusive
of costs and every fine is recoverable under the Summary Convictions Act

6) That this By-Law shall come into force and take effect on the day
of final passing thereof.
7) That the By-Law 1401 is hereby rescinded.
