MINUTES OF THE ORO-MEDONTE RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING
HELD THURSDAY, November 3, 1994

Minutes of the October 20, 1994 Meeting
Moved by Dave Knox, Seconded by Meryl Drake
That we adopt the minutes of the meeting of October 20, 1994
as printed and circulated.
Carried.

Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest and the General Nature
Thereof - In Accordance with The Act

Disposition of the October 20, 1994 Recommendations to
Council:
Unavailable for distribution. Verbally advised by Councillor
Crawford regarding disposition.

Deputations:

Martha Woods re:
Programs:
Contract Recreation
While distributing the attached handout, Ms. Woods reviewed
her credentials and background information for the Committee.
The purpose of the service is to provide a quality product for
a reasonable price. All programs offered would be evaluated
and assessed with appropriate changes made based on these
evaluations. No cost would be involved for the municipality
although the Township would provide the facilities, preferably
the community halls at a negotiated low cost fee with all the
programs being run by the service provider.
A more specific proposal has been requested for presentation
to the Committee for discussion and possible recommendation to
Council.

Correspondence:
a)
Coldwater & District Curling Club re: Support Towards
the Building of a New Curling Facility:
Considerable discussion occurred regarding arenas and support
of same.
Moved by Dave Knox, seconded by Meryl Drake
That the issue of the Coldwater Curling Club has been
previously discussed by the Committee and Council and the
decision of Council still stands.
Carried.
6.
Parks & Recreation Manager Monthly Report:
a)
O.M.R.A. Conference Budget:
A grant in the amount of $1,980.00 is expected and will be
applied to the conference. Discussion occurred regarding the
problems with Horseshoe, the fact that the number of delegates
were up, registrations were up and that the conference has a
positive budget. The T Shirts have been divided up to be
sold.

Committee Chairman's Report:
a)
Community Hall Update:
At the October 24th, Community Hall meeting, all of the
Community Halls chose to have the accounting conducted by the
Township Treasury Department.
Moved by Dave Knox, seconded by Meryl Drake
It is recommended to Council that the township adopt a single
book-keeping method for all halls and parks as outlined by
Henry at the October 24, 1994 Hall Board meeting. This book-
keeping system to be established by the Township Treasurer.

b)
1995 Committee Recommendation:
Moved by Nancy Stoddart, seconded by Meryl Drake
It is recommended to Council that the 1995 Oro-Medonte
Recreation Advisory Committee consist of the following
membership: 4 members from former Oro¡ and 2 members from
former Medonte as well as 2 Council members and the Mayor as
ex-officio. This membership to be filled through advertising
for resumes and council appoint the appropriate membership.

Other Business:
a)
A draft letter to Vasey Parks and Recreation Committee
was read and discussed. The Recreation Manager to
attempt to contact the Vasey Park Committee requesting
their proposed plans for 1995 in order that their budget
may be incorporated within the upcoming budget process.
An unsigned letter received by the Recreation Manager
with regard to G.L.A.S.S. and their booking of the Arena
Banquet Hall for dances was discussed with regard to the
appropriate action.
