The Township of Oro History Committee met this evenin¡
as scheduled by resolution at the last Re¡ular Meetine held
on April 7,1987, with the followine members present:

Ruth Fraser
Wallace Key
Henry Neufeld
Absent:

Marlene Mawdsley, Walter Hutchinson.
The meetin¡ was opened by the Chairman, Howard
Campbell at 7:~; p.m.
The minutes of the last reeular meetine held
on April 7,1987 were on motion of Henry Neufeld
and Wallace Key adopted as printed _nd received.

Ad Hoc Picture Committee Report - All pictures for the
first portion of the book are in the hands of the Editor
and the pictures for the second part are now available
to be ¡iven to the Editor ~or proper insertion.
Further report on Century Farms - Century farms have
been updated and typed as revised and handed to the
Editor.

resolution for the printine of the upqate of the
Story of Oro for 2;00 copies at a total estimated
cost of 112,;4;.00, includin¡ plastic laminated cover.
Letter from Administrator/Clerk forwardine resolution
of Council approvin¡ the Committee's recommendation
to hire a private typist to type the update of the
Story of Oro. Rate of $2.00 per pa¡e, double spaced.

Presented Memo from Administratoe/Clerk advisin¡ that
should the History Committee wish to place an advertisement
or notice in the Township of Oro Sprin¡ Newsletter re-
¡ardin¡ the uØdate of the Story of Oro, to submit same
and leave it with the Deputy-Clerk as same will be
¡oin¡ to the Printers tomorrow.
(d) Presented several letters of enquiry re: family History
of certain families from Fiye Cameron and Betty (Hu¡hes)

Howard Campbell will attend to respondin¡ to the letters
of enquiry.

On motion of Ruth Fraser and Wallace Key that the letter
confirmine authorization of Council for the printine of 2500
copies of the update of the Story ot Oro at an approximate
cost of $12,545.00, includine plastic laminated ocer, be
received and material for printine be worwarded to Dyment-
Stub ley Printers as soon as same is available in order to
have the book printed for September 1,1987.
Koved by Henry Neufeld and seconded by Wallace Key
that the followine notice be placed in the Township of Oro
Newsletter:
Further to the notice in the 1986 Township of Oro
Newsletter, the Story of Oro update is proceedine ~ advised
~d will include an additional 12; pictures and eeneral
update will be to the date of printine. It is anticipated
2500 copies will be printed by September 1,1987 and copies
should be available shortly thereatter. All persons interested
in obtainine a copy should place their order early.
Also
It was mov,d by Wallace Key and seconded by Henry Neufeld
that a notice be placed in the Township of Oro Newsletter
advisine it is proposed that a Kemorial Service be held
at the Africin Church in 1988.

The Chairman reported on obtainine a typist and rentine
a typewriter and as result the follQwin¡ motion was passed:
On motion of Ruth Fraser and Wallace Key that Ilene
Skinner be retained as the typist for the update of the
Story of 0 as by Oro Council for the History
Committee to obtain a private typist. Also that the Township
Administrator/Clerk be advised of same and be requested to
have payment issued for the remuneration and for the rental
of the typewriter at the rate of $47.00 per month plus the
necessary tapes for same.
Secretary to advise Mrs. Ilene Skinner of the proposed
rate as authorized by Council.
Editors Report

The first 50 paees of the update of the Story of
Oro will be forwarded to the Printers by Kay ll~ 1987.
Other Business

On motion of Henry Neufeld and Ruth Fraser that the
Reeve prepare a Messaee from the Reeve to be included in
the Story of Oro update and that it be available before
May 11,1987.
Moved by Wallace Key and seconded by Ruth Fraser
that the meetin¡ adjourn at 8:55 p.m. to meet aeain at
the call of the Chairman.
