HISTORY COMMITTEE MEETING
September 3,1992
The Township of Oro History Committee met this afternoon.
at the Township of Oro Administration Building in the Committee
Room, at the call of the Chairperson. Members of the Committee
having been duly notified.
The following members were present:
Loreen (Rice) Lucas
Walter Hutchinson
Henry Neufeld
Absent: Bernice Hickling; Neil McNiven; Sandra Shelswell.

Opening
Minutes
The Chairperson opened the meeting at 3:10 p.m.
The Minutes of the last regular meeting held on
June 18, "1992, were on motion of Earl Robertson
and Walter Hutchinson adopted as printed and received.

Correstondence and Communications
The Secretary presented copy of letter to Ms. Jane
Ross, Senior Research Historian, Remington-Alberta
Carriage Centre forwarding the glossy photo of "Alexander
Tudhope transporting buggies from Orillia" and letter
from Ms. Jane Ross, Senior Historian requesting a letter
of permission to exhibit the Photograph in the Remlngton-
Alberta Carriage Centre and advising that the photo cerdit
line read liThe Township of Oro History Committee".
Moved by Tim Crawford and seconded by Earl Robertson
that the Correspondence as presented be received and
filed.
Old and Unfinished Business
The matter of "Hills, Hotels and Taverns of Oro" was
again brought before the meeting and Tim Crawford presented a
draft copy of same in booklet form which also illustrated some
sketches corresponding with the subject matter. The project aa
presented waS well received by Committee members.
It was left that the booklet be reviewed with some adjust-
ments to the sketches and/or other comments. Tim Crawford to call
on members of the Committee to review and/or add to the draft copy.
It was also further suggested that the names of Corners and
Crossings be included in the booklet.

Kew Business
Tim Crawford reported that he had met with the Archivist
at the Simcoe County Museum with respect to retention of documents 4IÞ
and advised that the County of Simcoe are now able to accept more
documents since the building of the addition. Also that in due
course all documents stored would be micro-filmed and al copy of
the micro-film would be returaed to the Township. All documents
stored at the Archives remain as property of the Municipality..
It was moved by Tim Crawford and seconded by Walter Hutchinson
that the several copies of By-laws and related materials be for-
warded to the Township Clerk and that the History Committee re-
commend that the copies of the By-laws and related material be
presentèd to Oro Council for action with respect to the retention
of documents and storage of_same since the County Archives now
appear to have more room av~ilable. Carried
Joanna McEwen was present at 4:00 p.m with respect to the 1992
project for the transfer of pictures and comments thereto onto
Video and correspondence related to same. And advised that at
the start of the Schpol term she would be at Twin Lakes School
in Orillia, were the project of transferring of the pictures
and comments will be undertaken as a School Project to trQnsfer
them onto Video at a nominal cost. .
The matter of continuing with the 1992 Project, of transferring
pictures and slides to Video is again to become Active. Tim
Crawford and Joanna McEwen will continue with tije progr~:as
started last Spring and once they save arranged the program for
the project, other members of the Committee work alternately
on the project.
Several other matters were brought forward and discussed with
no direct action taken at this time.

There being no other business at hand it was moved by Earl
Robertson that the meeting adjourn at 4.35 p.m.
