THE CORPORATION OF THE TOWNSHIP OF MEOONTE
Minutes of the Inaugural Meeting of Council of the Township of Medonte held at 7: 00
P.M. in the Hillsdale Community Hall in Hillsdale, December 9, 1991.

~he Townshi~erk calle.d the meeting to order and welcamed those in attendance.
He then administered the Oath of Office to the members of the Incoming Council and
the Trustees of the Police Village of Hillsdale.
E~~Vielcx)JI1ed. those in attendance and called on Reverend D. Clark who
offered a prayer for the newly elected members and for good government.
Reeve Beard then called Mr. Horace Vasey and Mr. Ingram Amos forward and presented
them with a plaque and a gift fram the Township on the occassion of their
retirement fram Council.
Feeve Beard also presented a plaque to Mr. James Rumble and Mr. G. Dunn on behalf
of the Police Village of Hillsdale Trustee's for their many years of service.
Reeye ~rd~!1 thanke.Q. those who had elected him and promised those in attendance
open government. He noted that it would be a very busy term of Council and asked
that all members of Council work together.
~ve Dal"ziel ~apologized for the confusion he caused by submitting a
resignation and then withdrawing it and assumed everyone he was looking forward to
serving and working with the members of Council.
Councillor Be.ll congratulated those elected. He thanked those who supported him
and advised that Council had many issues to deal with. He noted that the campaign
was the easy part and now the real work was beginning.

Councillor Dickie ext~nde(L his appreciation to Mr. Vasey and Mr. Amos for their
years of service and sacrifice on behalf of the Township. He thanked those who
supported him. He noted there was a good mix of ideas on the Council and expressed
his desire to work with them to do the required work.

Mr. Doug St. Denis thanked the voters of Hillsdale for their support. He noted he
had been a Village Trustee for 32 years and hoped to continue providing the
required service.
Ken Greenwood noted he was new to the position but looked forward to learning fram
the other Trustee's and working to make the Village of Hillsdale a safe place for
everyone.
Shari Drinkwater thanked. the voters of Hillsdale for their support and advised she
would work towards meeting the needs of the Village Residents.

Reeve Beard then asked the invited guests came forward.

Mr~}\. McLeanLl1!.P~Ehed Council well and stressed the need that they work
together. He also thanked those who ran but were unsuccessfull. He noted that it
is important that the Council be open and accountable to the ratepayers. He noted
that County Restructuring is proceeding and would likely be in place for the next
Municipal Election. Mr. McLean then presented Mr. Amos and Mr. Vasey with a scroll
fram the Province recognizing their many years of service.
Reeve Drury of the Township of Oro brought greetings fram his Council and extended
congratulations to the elected members. He advised he is looking forward to
working with and co-operating with Medonte Council on the many joint issues
affecting both Councils. He offered congratulations to Mr. Vasey and Mr. Amos on
behalf of Oro Township.

Council and advised he looked forward to working with them on joint issues. He
also offered his congratulations to Mr. Amos and Mr. Vasey.

election. He expressed his desire to work with the Council on the issues which
affected both Municipalities. He congratulated Mr. Amos and Mr. Vasey on their
many years of service.

to Mr. Amos and Mr. Vasey on their years of service and wished the new Council well
on their endeavours.

congratulations to those elected and presented a plaque to Mr. Amos fram the
Council of Wasaga Beach.
