THE CORPORATION OF THE TCMlNSHIP OF MEDONTE
Mimiltes of a Regular Meeting of Council of the Township of Medonte held on Tuesday,
July 12, 1983 at 7:00 P.M. in Council Chambers, Moonstone.

II That the minutes of a Regular Meeting of Council held on June 16, 1983 and the
minutes of a special meeting he Id on June 22, 1983 be adoptedl I.
Council then met with E. Robertson, Township Roads Superintendent. Council approved of
the purchase of a pump for the road's department.

Mt. St. Louis Road and the intersection of the 12th Concession and the Warminster Side
Road.

in front of the Lippel property.

of Riche lieu Drive and Georgian Drive. Council directed the Roads Superintendent to

Council directed the Road's Superintendent contact Mr. P. Nixon to do weed cutting in
the Medonte Hills Subdivi$ion, in the Town Sites and at the new Township Office.

Superintendent give him some bags of calcium.
PASSING OF BY-LAWS

Resolution R3-142 was passed as follows:
" That a By-Law providing for the erection of Stop Signs at various intersections
in the Township be considered read a first and second read a third time and
passed this 12th day of July, 1983 and numbered By- Law 83-15".

1) Mr. R. VanValkenburg approached Council on behalf of the Warminster Park and
requested the use of some Township equipment for a half day. Council agreed to
supply the equipment When it was available.
.2) Mrs. p.. :Qyment, the School Trustee for the Township met with Council and discussed
the progress of the General Purpose Room for the Moonstone Public Sohool. There
~ was also a discussion regarding library services and program changes.
)) The Price Park Ratep.qyer' s Association approached Council on several matters. They
presented a list of ditching and culvert problems. Council agreed to do the work
in the 1984 budget with the understanding that Council would repair the entrance
dulverts but would not replace the asphalt.
The group .q1 S0 requested Council provide some gravel and ditching so the mail boxes
can be set back off the road. Council agreed to do the work When they received
written permission from the post office and the land owner affected. The group
also presented a petition requesting streetlighting.
Rf'sol11rion R1-141 :was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of putting 2 streetlights along County Road 22 at Edith
Drive and Olive Drive as requesEed by the Price Park Ratepayer's Association

with the understanding that the ratepayers will pay the cost of purchase and installati
and the ongoing maintenance and energy charges".

Council directed the office be eleaned and the grass cut and asked the Clerk
contact the parties Who are interested in renting the office.
2-) The Clerk_infQDTIed Council that Horseshoe Valley has billed the Condominium
for water for the year 1983.
3) Res01l1tion 83-144 was passed as follows:
" That Council approves of payment to McKerroll Excavating Ltd. in the amount
of $3,960.00 for work to provide a trench at the Township Waste Site,
lot 19, Concession 13;
And that Council directs the Clerk to advise McKerroll Excavating that Council
is not satisfied with the width of the trench and requests that in the future
the backhoe and not the drag line be usedl I.

" That this Council approves of a payment in the amount of $2,184.81 to H. Cassell
Limited for repairs to the township Jotm Deere 450 Waste Site machine".

2) Clerk presented a letter from Mr. D. Hervieux regarding a proposed sawmill operation
on his property. Council directed the Clerk invite Mr. Hervieux to the next Council
meeting.
1) T ptter from Susan Miller refusing to pay dog licence fees as 'sh@' feels she receives
no service was presented. Council directed the Clerk inform hertil::J.at all dog owners
must pay licence fees as per the Township By""Laws.

Resolution 83-147 was passed as follows:
" That Council endorses the resolution of the County of Northumberland regarding
school board collecting their own taxes and directs the Clerk notify the
Minister of Education of this support".

Resolution 83~148 was passed as follows:
" That Medonte Township Council approves of a cancellation of residential public
assessment in the amount of $820. Roll 2-080-01, Doug Jolie due to building burned
from April 1, 1983 to December 31, 1983, 9 months".
Resolution 83-149 was passed as follows;
" That Medonte Township Council approves of a conversion of $850. assessment
from commercial public to residential public, Roll 81-059, Larry Horne, due to
business ceased on this property".

assessment in the amount of $255;jRoll 81-059-0001, Paul McCartney, for all
of 1983, due to business ceased and tenant vacated property'.

" That Council &pproves of a write-off imthe amount of $19.23 being business
tax for the year 1982, Roll # 81-059-0001 due to business ceased".

" That Medonte Township Council approves of a cancellation of residential public
assessment in the amount of $400., Roll No. 4-045, Stephen Bryan, from Feb;, 1/83
11 months, due to barn burned".
Resolution 83-153~was passed as follows:
" That Medonte Township Council approves of a cancellation of business public
assessment in the amount of $420., from Mar. 1/83 to Dec. 31/83, Roll 81-075-000
Gerald and Olive Ganton, due to business sold to new owner. Section 33 pending.

assessment in the amount of $695., Roll # 6-179, L. Thiffault, for June 1/83
to Dec. 31/83, 7 months, due to mobile home removed from property".

" That this Council approves of a payment in the amount of $5,220.00 to Bill
Strudwick Construction Ltd. being the tendered amount for the work at the
Mt. St. Louis Waste Site less a 10% holdback".

" That General Voucher # 7 in the amount of $302,624.23 is hereby approved for
payment".

" That Council approves of the Orr Lake Ratepayers Association using the Flos-Medonte
Community Park for the Orr Lake Regatta to be held on July 31, 1983".
